ngl i kinda hate how enzo’s character took a 180 turn i wish it was more of a slow falling in love situation
It’s not really a 180 when you think about it. He’s been obsessed with Rian for a long time and it has only intensified, especially with Rian one-upping him in the more recent chapters. He’s also in trouble and needs Rian’s help so it’s in his best interest to remain on his best behaviour (even he said as much). He’s also been pretty honest with Rian to begin with. He’s never actually lied to him. Omitting facts, yes, but outright wrong information, no. Since he needs Rian’s help, he’s decided to lay everything bare this time.
So intensifying obsession and failing to keep it under control around Rian + being in potentially lots of legal trouble and needing a helpline + just being a very honest person from the start = what you’re seeing now. He was introduced to us as a cool-headed and psychotic CEO, but in reality he’s likely just a heavily abused and damaged person who never met anyone he felt he could show some vulnerability to. Rian is slowly becoming that person for him and he’s starting to unravel bit by bit (he himself might not have even fully realized this). Not that I’m trying to justify his earlier actions like the rapes of course. Those were fucked up and inexcusable and I’m curious whether they’ll be directly addressed later.
That's really some interesting aspect of Enzo's character. He has a weird kind of honesty about him. True, he commits many lies of omission, but he never blatantly deceives in a cheap way. The same goes for the threats, which he masks later as playfulness, about Shadow, and funny enough, he didn't even outright lie about the earring and let Rian assume it belonged to Via.
And he keeps his promises. I mean, that second time was just too fucked up, showing how damaged Enzo actually is, since he planned the whole thing. But he warned Rian since the beginning, 'Don't go around whoring yourself to embarrass me. Don't use the trick you used on me again. It feels like you're just trying to provoke me,' and then, 'No need to provoke me,' when he already knew Rian would sleep with his target.
So yeah, seeing his put-up character unravel would be veeeery satisfying.

can’t stop rereading this is SO SO PEAK
