I think trying to dictate what can and can't be smut is a weird hill to climb. Yaoi is an adult genre, it's smut and smut is for sexual purposes. I'd like to point out that there are vastly different flavors of yaoi, personally I feel like people need to make the distinction between yaoi and BL romance (shounen ai).
