Alright, I get why this isn’t for everyone, but damn… this is exactly my cup of tea.

I seriously love trash with trash. Especially when they’re all over each other, treating each other like shit, and then it comes back to bite them later. Peak entertainment.

The only real letdown is that we barely got any of the ML’s POV. From what some people said in the comments, the novel actually shows his side of things, and a lot of scenes that were in the book just didn’t make it into the manhwa. I’ll probably end up reading the novel later.

That said… the reason for the rejection still felt kinda disconnected. The ML was the one pushing all the lover-like stuff (cuddling while sleeping, staying over at his place, etc.), so the way he shut the MC down so hard without even thinking about it felt weird. And the one-month time skip didn’t help. We just get a panel saying a month passed and the MC coming home with his luggage. No insight into what the ML was thinking during that time, or how the MC managed to let go of his feelings. Then suddenly the ML is begging for a chance and the MC does a complete 180. It felt way too abrupt.

And that part where the MC kept texting and calling the ML just to meet up for sex after being rejected… Jesus. I literally had to pause the chapter and take a deep breath before continuing.

Overall I really liked the concept, but I think the manhwa could’ve executed it better. Hoping the novel does it more justice. Kinda sad though, because I love stories with bi bottoms who’ve slept around… and there just aren’t many of those out there.

Why can't this have a full series? So sad. I loved both leads and can easily picture a slow-burn romance spanning many chapters.

After reading the chapter titles, I think the three “missing” chapters might actually be two additional stories and not a continuation of this one.

MC might come across as a little dumb at first, but I never found him annoying or insufferable. He’s just a total cutie who can’t hide it when he’s into someone.

I love how he stands up for himself when things get too much, how the ML actually recognizes he was wrong for mixing his personal feelings into their workplace (I really wanted to punch him for a second there), and how adorable their relationship becomes. They genuinely can’t get enough of each other.

It was also so refreshing that there was no 2ML and that MC’s friend wasn’t secretly in love with him. Just straight friends who genuinely cared about him, rare and appreciated.

And I love that this isn’t the usual virgin bottom + player top setup. Both of them had past relationships, even if MC’s were mostly toxic and messy.

Overall it’s just a sweet, cute read without big misunderstandings or over the top drama. The author said they planned for it to be around 40 chapters, but honestly I could easily take another 40, haha.

I’d love a chapter where they meet ML’s family. The author made him seem like he comes from money, but never really explained the details. And some future extras with MC’s siblings already grown up and finding out about their relationship would be perfect.

I wholeheartedly agree with the other comments. I’m so proud of the MC for standing up for his feelings.

The ML was a complete bastard for starting this whole thing with a straight guy who was literally just his neighbor. He was the one who came on strong and pushed everything forward. Now that reality is hitting, he wants to slam the brakes and step back like a coward. If only we could pause life to think things through properly… but he should’ve done that before getting the MC involved. I’m so pissed. And then he has the nerve to say he was “clumsy” with how he handled things. Oh yeah, darling… fucking clumsy.

From the spoilers in another comment, he’s apparently worried about the homophobia they might face. Cool. Why weren’t you worried about that before pulling the MC into your life? And why couldn’t you just sit him down and lay all the cards on the table so you two could decide together?

I know things will eventually get resolved, but man… the ML was straight up irresponsible. He tried to dodge any accountability for the relationship by hurting the MC and claiming he never took it seriously. What a fucking prick.

I had a feeling he knew something, but I wasn’t completely sure… and even then, this last chapter still made me gasp at the reveal.

Now I’m dying to know how long he’s known. Was it from the very beginning? Or from the moment the other cop showed up?

Ugh, the waiting is gonna kill me. I also need the full truth about the brother and the female cop.

This story has completely grown on me, and now I can’t believe I started it so early. I should’ve just waited until season 2 dropped.

I really liked the way the plot was set up here. The whole concept of a top alpha having unrequited love for a bottom omega is great (even if it’s built on a bunch of ridiculous misunderstandings, lmao).

MC’s name is Blake Dalton, but yeah, I agree with everyone else, I’ve never seen Dalton used as a first name before.

Also, it’s kinda fucked up if the MC really hid his secondary gender from his ex-wife. And is it even possible to hide being an omega from the league? Don’t they do regular blood or drug testing throughout the year?

Anyway, I’ll be following this one. The ML already won me over, heh.

I forgot a key detail: the MC was a general for the empire, and his mission was to find an immortal core to cure the emperor’s illness. He remembered the snake he’d helped when he was 16, so he tracked down where the ML lived and approached him with the clear intent to steal his core.

His orders were basically: find the ML, earn his trust, take the core, and bring it back to the capital. If he succeeded, the emperor would reward him and his whole family/clan would get the honor and glory of saving the emperor.

Like I mentioned before, the MC grew up under a ton of pressure and expectations. He had half-brothers, and his dad basically told him that if he wasn’t useful, he’d just pick another heir. His mother used him as a tool to keep her hold on the father and her power. (All of that comes from those convoluted text dumps, it’s never actually shown, just dumped on us.)

The story never really shows how their friendship or feelings develop. We just jump to the ML asking the MC to hide the core in a temple, since temples are sacred/divine places and the tribulations couldn’t reach him there. I don’t remember the exact wording, but I think the MC asks if the ML trusts him, and the ML basically says he knows exactly what kind of person the MC is… and he still wants to trust him anyway. Like, he fully knows the MC is deceitful.

So the ML willingly hands over the core, but his actual plan was for the MC to hide it in that temple so the tribulations (which would kill him since he was a demon who couldn’t ascend) couldn’t reach him. The MC takes the core and heads back to the capital, feeling a little conflicted because he knows the ML is going to die without it.

Then the emperor eats the core. And in Chinese lore, the emperor’s body is basically a divine place (that whole “dragon’s body” thing), so heavenly tribulations can’t just mess with it freely. Turns out the emperor’s body was the safest possible hiding spot from the tribulations.

And after that… everything I described in the other comment happens.

So it begins!!!

Starting the chapter from his POV was such a brilliant move, thank you, author.

Hopefully the satisfaction just keeps climbing from here on out.
