It was so underwhelming. I get that she doesn't need to be forgiven but they didn't even have one good face to face conversation. Then he goes running to his son to not be a shitty mom I guess???

I would have preferred if he had one decent talk with her because he honestly wasn't in the right frame of mind for this meeting even if she was shitty. Dojin should have pushed to arrange a meeting for a later date and then speak to Hyesung about it to see if he was even ready for it.

It just doesn't feel to end on a high note. The father came in a ripped open all the emotions and then trapping himself in the room and then issues with the mother. Sigh, I guessed I would have liked it if Hyesung got the therapy he needed and then end with him finally being able to recover and move on from his past abuse, living happily with his family and most importantly finally accepting and loving himself.

But oh well, it was an okay run. Really stuck around for the second couple. Since the author is done with this I wonder what she'll work on next.

The other issue is people are completely disregarding this woman was an abuse victim. She clearly wasn’t the best mother given the situation but the total lack of consideration of how mentally broken she must of been to make such a decision with no one sympathizing tells me how little most readers actually understand reality. The same readers only chapter before hated Hyesung when he didn’t immediately latch on to the idea of being a parent and more importantly have “maternal” instincts. How do people not understand this could have been the very same situation the mother faced? It boggles me mind how badly this author and her audience understand mental health using it as a means to an end to validate the main couple but not their individual characterization.

THIS. I was a little annoyed with his attitude but after learning about his past its understandable for him to be scared and avoidant and combining that with postpartum depression. And his mom being abused by his father all those years I couldn't imagine whats going on in her head. Part of me thinks she really does feel guilty but we'll never know her story, her struggles, her true feeling for her son, she was just a plot device for the main couple. Reading the comments really like brings to your attention how little people understand mental disorders.

So, I was conflicted with the knight initially because of the previous spoilers ppl gave I thought he had an active role in Shuri's death but he seemed so nice in the present timeline but now... bruh

Regretting how he sent off his mistress and then finding his comrades and her in that state. Then after Nora resolves the case figuring out that the issues he confided to his 'friend' and church was the information used to aid her massacre.

Man is gonna be traumatized and guilt-ridden for his life.

I want a satisfying end for all those priests. Not only the cardinal but that blonde two-faced puppet! A simple death is too merciful!

hey Hey HEEYYYY February 5, 2021 2:31 pm

I wanna say "I'm glad she went back in time and is alive again"

.....But what if she's in another parallel universe and the world she was previously in is still continuing with the death of Shuli?

I don't want to think about it! I didn't want to think about such a tragic thing (/TДT)/

So many Isekai, Time Travel and Reincarnation stories tend to have these troupes that really just have these awful situations or protagonists being abused or hated or wronged. Which isn't necessarily bad for the story. But more often than it should be, you'll see these troupes being thrown in just for the sake of the plot and advancing the protagonist story. If you're really into the story you may not notice, or if the rest of the plot is good enough you'll just roll an eye. And if you're really unlucky you've read Ingrid, the White Deer.

I'm getting to my point now. Beastmen tend to show up a lot in Fantasy stories, often as the inferior race and used as slaves for nobles. Then the protagonist shows up and sees them as equals because their different and yada yada 'insert generic plot'

It's a pretty common troupe. But thinking over it, I feel its more just used to make humans and nobles look evil and the protagonist shine and get another addition to their harem. Humans aren't saints, yes and they are likely to look down on outsiders or people different from them which is bad but let's be real its not uncommon with the rest of the animal kingdom.

I just don't see how it's possible for humans in every fantasy universe to have dominant control to enslave Beastmen with such ease. When:

1. Beastmen are proven to have higher capabilities in strength, magic and physical senses.

2. Since they are half human are capable of learning, critical thinking, inventing and adapting to their environment and innovating to create complex structures and societies.

3. Sometimes have demographics where the beastmen population is capable of forming a country or two.

Vampires and werewolves are terrying creatures that humans could never hope to stand against but a beastman/demi-human need to be protected ???????

If you say, that maybe its because their peaceful. I'll call bullshit on that. I hate that self-deprecating thing humans in stories, where everyone is peaceful and have a prefect utopia and humans are evil or lost their way. We aren't perfect again but any civilization has room for corruption and greed, so I call it as generic or utopia worldbuilding.

Advanced weapons? That actually depends. Back during ya know, slavery in the Caribbean, some runaway slaves managed to escape to the mountains and form villages. They are The Maroons. Of course, slavemasters and the government wouldn't be happy with this so they sent soldiers after them. I don't think anyone in today's world would believe that you could beat a bunch of trained soldiers with guns so bad with handmade slingshots, spears and bow and arrow that they would be the ones begging for a Peace Treaty. But knowing and utilizing ones environment has been proven to create a significant advantage apparently.

So, why are beastmen always with some disadvantage and sob story of being enslaved?

I mean if humans and beastmen were at war or even working together at times like elves, it would be sensible. But it just baffles me that beastmen/demi-humans have never been written in stories as equal footing. Different cultures. Different Magic. What if Beastmen also discriminated against humans? What if beastmen/demihumans were the higher-class since they had enhanced abilities? So much potential, that I'll probably never read.

I'm just tired of these generic stories. I love isekai and fantasy and reincarnation but my god would it kill some of these writers to try a little worldbuilding and not use the same recycled themes. But that's asking for too much even from Disney. So for now,

"Why are you being nice to me even thought I'm Demi-Human?"
"Why does that matter?"
"Oh, he so different from the other humans."

Cat/Wolf/Fox-Girl added to Harem.

I love villainess stories but I've read my fair share of them to spot all the repeating cliches that are kind of starting to get to me. There a few that will always land on the top of my list like, Beware the Villainess, The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass, and this one is actually a novel called The Villainess' Dark Side.

Most of the villainess stories have at least one or more of these cliches:

1. The somehow end up being the one that was wronged

2. Either they are a person you take complete pity on

3. Or they are a complete "badass", that is super-smart, capable of running thousands of businesses, and somehow have the most uncommon knowledge of making soap, shampoos and the basis for creating a functional economy

4. Or hardworking and just wants to live a commoner life (She's the girl that rejects the alimony in a divorce and asks for a job instead)

5. Their personalities always! Always change! Because we need to look down on women who enjoy flower picking, tea parties, and socializing. Who likes getting an expensive, showy dress once in a while.

Most of the Villainess stories no longer feel like Villainess stories. It's like they took a Heroine and slapped the label of Villainess on her, especially isekai villainess.

The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass is by far my favorite.

To which I ask which cliches do you hate the most in the villainess tag?

    Lumin December 6, 2020 7:31 pm

OHHHH i hate it when the villainess forgives whoever wrongs them and end up with them...?!??! Like MISS GURL he literally killed you/ destroyed ur life?!?!? like are u just gonna fucken ignore that fact?!?! I hate it if the villianess was framed so that makes it even worse like Ma'am give it a break, just beat them and not pay attention to them

    Lara15 December 6, 2020 7:33 pm

5 cuz they think they better than all the other characters and just use them

    ✨aBiE✨ December 6, 2020 7:35 pm

I completely agree! I too feel like they don't really behave like a villainess and more like a heroine. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

Since your top list is really similar to mine I want to rec you this:

    http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/i_want_to_be_you_just_for_a_day/

The trope I hate is when they get with the crown prince or king. Which, I know, is almost all of them. But I haaaate it.

    I hate Mary Sue.

I hate when the character doesn't go on to work at anything. Like, they don't study or learn or improve.

Most of all, I hate the 'perfect' male lead with a tragic backstory. Give me a ml with weight. Male leads should have other things to do than be rich and stoic. The Villainess Reverses The Hourglass is my favorite example of a ml done right.

OMG IKR like I can't stand it! Why would they do that (TT)?? I DON'T CARE IF YOU GO BACK INTO THE PAST BEFORE HE DID THAT!! IF HE ALREADY DID HORRIBLE THINGS I DON'T CARE IF HE CHANGES AND BEGS FOR FORGIVENESS HE'S GOTTA FEEL SOME PAIN! THERE'S NO I'D WANNA BE TOGETHER WITH SOMEONE LIKE THAT! I'm just confused??? I JUST WISH I COULD KNOCK SOME SENSE INTO THOSE KIND OF VIlLAINESS! LIKE YOU'RE A VILLAINESS IF YOU DON'T DEAL WITH THE PERSON WHO CAUSED YOU THE MOST PAIN( the Main lead is most of the time the cause the villainess's suffering)THEN YOU'RE NOT TRULY GETTING REVENGE! =_=

Ohh boy this one is gonna be long xD
    Here i go~

    "Plot armor activated 24/7" -
would love it if its less op. .for fuks sake let mc face danger, get hurt and suffer. Where's the fun if she ends up winning everyone over with just smile and few honey words so easily?? --__--

    "Multiple reincarnated individual" -
it can make things thrilling and exciting unless author decides to make it all happy go lucky nakama bullshit. It becomes hella cringy.

"Mcs excepting their new lives easily" -
... Let us see mc struggling to adjust to the new world and feeling sad or frustrated after loosing her old life and family..They always wake up and be like 'wlp guess its my life n be A-O-K.

    "Perfect mc" -
Its fine butttt naaah. Give them flaw but not to the point it becomes annoying and
less charmingg. They Should be developing with story. I personally love it when nice people snaps and starts to do evill shits without making the good people suffer.too much.

"The reincarnated Villainess vs the MC"
ughhhh.. I don't like it.. they don't have to be at each other's throat. The og mc doesn't have become the Villainess.. they can have opposite ideology and different ways of doing things.. and still be good rival and have somewhat respectful attitude to one another..

""Opponent looking good but zero brain and is a continuous loser"
its not fun. Make the Villain smart and threatening who give mc hard time winning. (•ˇ_ˇ•) face slapping ain't satisfying otherwise( ̄∇ ̄") ( ̄ε(# ̄)Σ

Tbh i would love to see Villainess isekai with yuri or it be an action, adventure story without any romance ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ still hoping to see "Eliza" get manga/anime adaptation..

Anyway thats all for me now.

i fucking hate those mary sues, perfect in every way, no flaws- it hurts me, hurts me so much, when a MC is so perfect, it doesn't make her feel human... sorry not sorry but that's why I dropped http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/a_capable_maid/?u0ac and http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/doctor_elise/?Gu5k . I would choose the villainess in this story: http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/virtues_of_the_villainess/?pRIz over those any days of the week.
