That woman (Maxi) lived in a castle all her life, she was tortured and her self-esteem was destroyed. She was married to an overprotective man who went crazy every time she went out the castle gate.
This is Maxi's only chance to be free and learn, as the situation forces Riftan to give in. Be patient
I actually enjoyed Maxi's slow and more realistic development, rather than the story where with a few months of training she suddenly all ready and become great.
If you are not patience enough with Maxi's situation or Riftan's attitude, then this is not the read for you, their story is still long and both of them are hard with their own trauma, you won't see a happy ending or rapid development anytime soon

I think the ending is perfect and realistic at the same time. Both Maxi and riftan will learn to deal with their insecurities in the 2 books and book two riftan finally accepts and introduces maxi as an official remdragon mage. also after a few wars, riftan dedicates all his energy and work to making sure war won't happen with the exact same thought that as long as his beloved is safe and happy he would do anything to maintain that. it's definitely a bumpy road till they get there but they get there.
For me, both are wrong. I'm someone who believes when you have 'unfinished business' you can't expect your partner to continue to understand. It's your problem, only you can solve it, but if there's no awareness from yourself how are you going to heal.
Inwoo does need a little slap. I understand it's hard, but if you don't move forward you're not only hurting yourself but also those around you. It's not fair that Jiho should always understand, when he sees his loved ones getting 'sick'. Jiho's only fault was the way he confronted Inwoo's problems, but it was only natural when he started to get worried, anxious and tired.
Jiho also had a problem with fear of his father. But Jiho saw that his fear was also hurting Inwoo, so he wanted to try to fight his fear and face his father. So, it's not fair people ponting finger at Jiho, it's not easy to be in Jiho position. If you don't have strong feelings or determination, you can get drag with their fear & negative emotion.

Honestly, not a take I can agree with, but you do you. It's not easy to just up and get over your problems, Inwoo's issues are deep-seated, he can't just pause his life and connections forever to resolve it and move on like magic; people gotta keep being people. Secondly, it was Jiho who pursued him when neither of them were ready for a relationship. I'm not saying Inwoo is innocent but Jiho is definitely MORE in the wrong by a large margin. It's not a matter of Jiho needing to be understanding or not, but he's just fucking dumb, thoughtless and inconsiderate in how he goes about everything; and at this point should break up for Inwoo's sake.
And on another matter, Jiho just straight up isn't an understanding person in the first place which is why this matter snowballed like this; so it's weird to be bringing up fairness imo?
Both have issues. My point is that if you want to have a relationship, you have to be prepared for your partner's condition or try to be better for your partner. The thing I don't like about Inwoo is that he has no desire to 'heal', but also doesn't want to let go of this relationship until Jiho crosses the line.
They need professional help especially Inwoo, but most importantly both need to show the desire to 'heal'. It's not pausing his life, but he can life on while seeking for help. Yes, it's not easy, but life is never easy, you need to fight for everything. Whoever his partner is, Inwoo's relationship won't work if he stays like that.
True, Jiho was the first to pursue Inwoo but now both are unwilling to let go of each other. The thing I don't like about Jiho is that he was aware of Inwoo's condition from the start, but he's living their relationship under the shadow of Inwoo's story and Inwoo's previous relationship. In essence, both of them has problem.
People getting annoyed with Riftan's attitude is funny, we have to suck it up, because he's far from changing, he'll be like that until the end, he'll get a little better in the second war but it's not like trusting Maxi and letting her do whatever she wants completely, it's frustrating but somehow I understand him a little bit, still it's very normal if Maxi feels suffocated

Leon can be annoying at times, the way he acts towards Maxi sometimes questionable. But what I like about him is that he respects her and gives her courage and trust. Unlike Riftan, he gives Maxi a chance to try different things and stays on guard to protect her. Their dynamic is like partners in crime and I find it more interesting
Looking forward to this. Riften has just been pissing me off.
I'm loving this already, this sound so fun
