I find the whole "ugly bastard" hentai theme repulsive!!
This shit better not become a thing in Yaoi! (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸

    blatantescapist October 2, 2020 5:22 am

I can see the reason for it lol it’s not for everyone that’s for sure, from what I can interpret, having a good-looking top/guy pulls you away from the main focus aka Yan Qing in this case. The huge contrast between the pretty and the ugly is also part of the “appeal”, people don’t look at these mob men, it’s just to further amplify the beauty of the other. That’s why you barely see these “ugly bastards”. You can throw in a normal looking, plain male protagonist in the mix but the appeal isn’t the same. This was clearly written for a specific target audience. I’m just gonna assume it’s for the ones who’ve got low self-esteem. After all, if these characters can get together with an ugly guy, then they’d definitely have a chance too.

    blatantescapist October 2, 2020 5:26 am

Either way, I don’t love it but I also don’t hate it. The problem isn’t his face, he’ll Id read an “ugly mob man” story if it was wholesome. The problem is the shit he pulled. I’d still hate him even if he was some kind of good looking, abusive psycho (god there’s so many popular BL in mangago that does this).

    Hell, I’d***

This is a simple incest story, yet emotive. The mangaka did an excellent job llustrating how the parents' emotional neglect, -and I would even call it emotional abuse - created the circumstances for the sexualization of the siblings' relationship. In the absence of their parents' emotional nurturing, the little brothers fulfilled that need for each other, forming a deep emotional intimacy as children which later developed into sexual intimacy as teenagers. This story doesn't transcend the genre, but it's very well crafted, very emotional and it has a lovely and satisfying HEA.

This is just my conjecture based on the raws up to chapter 7. Tsukasa, our blond main protagonist, is the third son of the Kuga family; however, he’s not legitimate as it seems he was adopted by Mr. Kuga who seems to be bedridden with a terminal illness. As a child, Tsukasa grew up in an orphanage. Amou, our ginger antagonist/protagonist, also grew up in the same orphanage with Tsukasa, and during their time there, they had a very strong bond and seemed to care for each other a lot. Because of his Enigma gender, Amou seems to have been ostracized by everyone except Tsukasa, and thus, Amou developed very strong feelings for Tsukasa and revered him; however, Tsukasa left the orphanage when he was adopted by Mr. Kuga, leaving Amou behind. Amou never forgot about Tsukasa and visited him at Tsukasaga’s school, but Tsukasa either didn’t remember Amou or acted as if he didn’t and humiliated Amou in front of Tsukasa’s friends, deeply hurting Amou’s feelings. Because of being slighted by Tsukasa so cruelly, Amou’s love for Tsukasa turned into resentment/hate.

It seems that Mr. Kuga shows favoritism for Tsukasa, even though he’s not Mr. Kuga’s biological son. This favoritism is deeply resented by Mr. Kuga’s (legitimate? Firstborn?) son, the dark-haired guy that seems to enjoy gardening and is shown cutting flowers. This firstborn? son resents/hates Tsukasa, and I infer he hates the idea of Tsukasa inheriting any part of the Kuga fortune. This guy feels threatened by Tsukasa, especially because Mr. Kuga could die at any moment. Somehow, the legitimate son discovered the power of the Enigma gender and that Amou is an Enigma. It seems that those with the Enigma gender have the power to change an Alpha into an Omega through sexual intercourse. The dark-haired legitimate son hired Amou to rape Tsukasa and change Tsukasa’s gender from Alpha to Omega to put an end to any claim Tsukasa may have on the Kuga family fortune. Amou accepts driven by his resentment/hate as a result of Tsukasa's rejection.

On the last episode, it seems that Mr. Kuga dies and his will is read, causing some sort of internal family conflict.

Based on our experience with Yaoi, we can infer that Amou and Tsukasa love each other, will forgive each other and that the legitimate son will somehow get his well-deserved comeuppance, and all the good people will live happily ever after.

Can’t say the plot is transcendental in any way, but I’m going to give the author credit for creativity with the whole Enigma gender. I’m also going to give them credit for competently illustrating believable human behavior. Amou’s fixation on Tsukasa is totally believable. As a pariah, Amou must have felt terribly isolated, and Tsukasa’s kindness and acceptance became Amou’s central focus. Tsukasa stood in the spotlight of Amou’s emotions, which explains why Tsukasa’s rejection had such a formative impact on Amou. Tsukasa was inherently a kind and compassionate child who felt naturally pulled by Amou’s loneliness, however, as an orphan himself, Tsukasa must inevitably have also experienced feelings of abandonment and loneliness; upon being adopted by Mr. Kuga, Tsukasa must have felt extremely overwhelmed with happiness and a great sense of gratitude toward Mr. Kuga, creating a great burden on Tsukasa of acting and performing to the highest of standards of Mr. Amou’s expectations, a burden of superior achievement rooted in the fear of rejection.

Even though Tsukasa came off as cruel towards Amou by acting as if he didn’t know him, he was still a child himself, and he cannot be judged for the typical callousness of childhood/teenage hood, especially if his callousness was rooted on Tsukasa’s fear of not being accepted, and thus, being “returned” to life in an orphanage. As baseless as those fears may be, for children growing up in the foster care system, their emotions never heal from the trauma of abandonment and grow up with persistent fears of rejection. Both Tsukasa and Amou were victims of circumstances they had no control over. However, we can infer that both, Tsukasa and Amou, are inherently kind and compassionate human beings, and deserve their happily ever after, despite Amou's reprehensible actions towards Tsukasa.

The one thing I’m not enjoying so far is the fact that Tsukasa’s Alpha gender is changed against his will, but other than that, I have to say that the author deserves points on creativity. This Yaoi may not be transcendental, but it’s very interesting.

In the spirit of redundancy, where's chapter 5! How sadistic! Lol THE chapter is missing ╥﹏╥

kyouran April 6, 2019 7:44 am

This was extremely sad ╥﹏╥

Based on Hitorita's narration, his stepfather deeply loved Hitorita's mother. It is implied his mom and stepfather practiced the BDSM type of Master/Slave lifestyle and made their living performing BDSM Shibari (Japanese art of knot tying). We can also infer this practice was illegal and their performances were conducted underground.

His mom's death had a devastating impact on the stepfather and the stepfather projected his need to "take care of" from the mother to the son. In the beginning, the dependence of the stepfather towards Hitorita is innocuous, albeit obsessive, but it takes a turn towards the sexually depraved when Hitorita tells him he's planning to move out upon graduating high school. Faced with the possibility of losing his only connection to his dead lover, (or family) the stepfather proceeds to sexually abuse Hitorita in order to bind him to his will. The stepfather's obsession further spirals becoming more depraved, possessive and obsessive.

However, the stepfather's illicit BDSM show was reported to the authorities and he and his associates had to run away. At that point, the stepfather somehow grows a conscience and instead of dragging Hitorita with him as a fugitive of the law, he decides to free Hitorita and abandons him instead.

We can infer that Hitorita's first autonomous action was to keep the Tattoo. His first conscious decision was to keep the tattoo he had initialy found shameful as a tribute to the stepfather that loved his mother, the man that lovingly took care of the two of them while she had been alive. As Hitorita stated at the beginning of the story, his stepfather was (inherently) a kind man and probably would have continued to be kind and loving if he hadn't been warped by grief.

This prequel offers insight into Hitorita's behavior in the sequel "Chou to Hana no Kankeisei". Hitorita grows up to be a dominant/assertive lover; never again a victim. Hitorita was also deeply affected by his stepfather's obsession in turning Hitorita into a submissive "female". This is why in "Chou to Hana no Kankeisei" the uke makes an immediate impact when he tells Hitorita that he finds Hitorita very masculine. That impression of being seen as manly is balsam to Hitorita's traumatic childhood, to his self-image as a man.

This is an excellent yaoi story. The type I classify as transcending the genre. I LOVED IT.
