I can handle all the angst and slowburn but istg if he cheated on our cute lil button hyeonseon I WILL RAGE!!!! Bruh all that green forest behaviour for nothing huh also idk if that’s really the route author will end up taking but if they do then this masterpiece will end up being like any other mid BL story where the seme is toxic and later will beg for forgiveness and the uke will forgive and move on ugh…
Okay I see conflicting opinions about the newest chp and it’s completely understandable but I guess we did know from the start that this one’s going to be a toxic/morally jet black (lol) kinda story both Enzo and Rian are questionable people no one here is a hero. Enzo is f*cked up thru and thru but Rian also has a questionable moral compass, this story is about 2 very questionable and toxic people falling??? for e/o. Enzo has a very hard time regulating his emotions and I feel that will end up being a crucial part of the story. This will def be a slow burn and an angsty one at that but I def think author is writing them this way deliberately.
I'm done with the morality talk, but I really think the execution of this chapter wasn't as good as it could be.
Spoiler below:
He's changing his anatomy, while the gravity isn't fully expressed. It's lightened and shortened like some panels are lost. The beginning of the chapter was amazing, showing us Rian's train of thought, but then it's like whatever. It's as if Enzo's cruelty isn't entirely for the sake of cruelty, and he's following several agendas at the same time, but then the author is somehow mellowing his cruelty, because that might be too unpleasant for the readers. While that's natural, it shouldn't affect the narrative.
Ohhh, I get what you mean, and honestly, I think what you said is reasonable.
To me, it feels more like we're still in the setup phase of a slow-burn story.
It feels like we're only seeing part of the picture, and hopefully the payoff later will make these scenes hit harder in retrospect.
Either way, I appreciate reading thoughtful comments like yours because they're about the storytelling itself rather than just the morality debate.
Yeah, I like your take on the story, the slow-burn is definitely burning slow!
And of course, the omission could be intentional, the author knows what they're doing; but we've seen it so many times, in all kind of series, since there's a feedback and then the continuation, the quality sometimes gets butchered. I hope that's not what's happening here.
I'm worried about that too.
While she's a professional, and it's not her first long story, I guess there wasn't much negative reaction around RC, huh? I only read that when it was already finished, so I wouldn't know. Anyway, let's hope for the best... she's very talented and creative, I'm sure this season's gonna be exciting!
