he originally only went after her due to a bet made with his friends and because his own first ex wife cucked him (I ain’t spoiling how)
she on the other hand is a country bumpkin who wanting to do right for her grandma via saving her childhood house goes to the city and meets her deadbeat (she doesn’t realize he’s a deadbeat at first) dad, who alongside his girlfriend lies and tricks her to stay for a year
she doesn’t realize at first they’re both planning to sell her off for marriage to clear their own debts
she’s a little native at first but as the story goes on you really feel bad for her and watch subtly as her personality goes from bubbly to slowly.. not so much anymore
ml ‘does’ grow to love her but jesus christ he often is a heartless piece of work toward her that thank god is getting finally a piece of well deserved humble pie in the current season
(everyone in the story besides grandma and lisa are genuinely asses toward the mc for a good portion of the ongoing story, be aware)

I’m also gonna recommend a bxb aka occult romantic comedy, the og novel is done in korean but not fully translated as of yet in english
it’s about a playboy a list actor (jonathan) and a supernatural detective (timothy aka tim) who have a quite heavy slow burn (with bits and pieces romance wise given to us sometimes but they’re not actually together yet hence the heavy slow burn still)
what I love is that it actually focuses more so atm on the plot itself rather then immediately throwing the sex in your face, plus the ongoing mystery in the plot isn’t solved in 10 chapters either
it’s a hidden little gem to the point that in the comments section it’s not unusual to see the same folks commenting on each update lmao
