I love this story, I love the art and I love how far we have come from the beginning with Maxi and Riftan, especially Maxi who had learned to love and build herself up by learning various things. However, may this love not find me because though they might love each other, there is so much angst that I have just been skipping chapters.

It's come to a point I can barely read a chapter without feeling so overwhelmed with anger, sadness and injustice. If I could ever be given the chance to just separate Maxi from everyone and bring her to a warm place where she can love and live wholely for herself and for her well-being, I would. Honestly, I just don't think their love is healthy. We see evidence of that. I can't even remember the chapters were everything was a little tiny bit blissful. No matter how much love Riftan may have for Maxi and no matter how much he may yearn, he still physically, politically and emotionally have power over her. The power gap between these two are so high, I can't even grasp how their relationships may work when this man can't even have enough patience with his wife and try to communicate himself well.

I'm happy when I see Maxi with literally everybody else, but the moment Riftan appears, I get frustrated like "What shit is he gonna pull this time." I know I'm probably exaggerating, but I seriously miss that scene when they took a ride with the horses. What happened to that Riftan? That man was a one-hit-wonder and never appeared again.

Did we ever get to see the chapter Riftan first falls for Maxi? If yes, can someone tell me which chapter? Sorry for complaining so much... I love the story, but it just gets too much sometimes.

A lot of her troubles stem from the chains of female nobility. Hopefully, you won't ever be in such a position

It's true to the setting and plot, but it's still really devastating... The author's other story (prequel to this one) is the same... May these women escape one day and find their happiness.

There's a separate one called "Riftan's POV" it tells his start and the yeaars of yearning he had and how he powered through everything for Maxi. I have that love hate with him as well. He's so jaded with everything that his default is to be defensive and fight and eventhough you know no one loves Maxi more than him, how he projects his love is downright hateful at times but then he does something that goes to the extreme to protect Maxi so you will forgive him a tiny bit then he starts talking shit again lol

Then again for Maxi I have that as well. It's more love-frustration like giiirl wdym he only does it out of obligation? Would someone *spoiler* for you? BUT that's what makes this story so great! 2 equally jaded people with different levels of self depreciation still pushing through everything for each other. They're equally exasperating but with real human emotions. Cause not all of us can power through and have any kind of confidence and positivity if we experienced what they did honestly...that's why what Maxi will realize and tell Riftan before the mage tower arc is *chefs kiss* hope they don't cut that conversation short in the manhwa

I also read riftans pov n what I realized from it is that he just loved the image he had of maxi n not who maxi actually is n he keeps trying to make her his pretty luxurious sex doll n won't let her be anything else. I honestly dont like him n I dont think hes good for maxi, hes just the first person to show love to her n shes holding on to that desperately

I think the conclusion I might have gotten after reflecting over this conversation is that I do believe stories that have well-written jaded characters are more fulfilling to read, but that doesn't necessarily mean I must support them as a person.

The characters' dynamics follow the setting that they are placed in, but as a modern person, I just can't swallow their relationship no matter how well-written they are. It is not that I oppose or find discomfort over the story of a powerless abused woman who finds her place with the help of a stern man who solely and selfishly do the utmost for her in the name of love, but it is that what I see is a victim whose survives on the first glimpse of love given by a man who doesn't know how to love.

I love that Maxi now possess multiple people who support her and care for her for just being (I love Ulyseon) and have gone through experiences that develop her character like having created meaningful friendships with other women during the war and deepened her relationships with the servants. However, when Riftan appears, sometimes it seems that her development reverses. In his presence, she feels small, selfishly dependent and unloved. It's probably because of many deep misunderstanding between the two, but if you read closely on how Riftan behaves and reacts, it's not like there isn't any fault.

I never read the novel so I am probably missing some key points here, but no matter how flawly written both of them are or how dependent both of them are to each other romantically, it just doesn't sit well with me for some reason. I am not saying Maxi is perfect either... She chooses her own battles and causes her own problems. Idk I just feel conflicted. No hate intended just sharing my small measly opinion. As I said, I love stories that question the characters and their moral standing and stuff, so I'll keep it strong to enter the mage tower arc.

Girl this is a great thread and you'll despise novel Riftan version much more lol and that's perfectly fine and honestly the only valid reaction and your observation of Maxi improving then regressing to her previous insecurities whenever Riftan is around will show more in season 2 as well so brace yourself. It will come to a point you want to be part of the story and just beat them up out of frustration. One moment you want to chain Riftan up to Talon and let him drag him to hell then next you want to slap some sense into Maxi whenever she spiral. It's a frustrating, exhausting and emotion filled read that you can't tell if you wasted your time or worth it but will reread again hahah

I agree he has this image he kept of her and their future together that caused the unnecessary drama and actions that he forces on her all cause of his ideal life he imagined. He did realize she's much more than that but it was waaay over the end of the series and not even enough to compensate everything Maxi went through. I don't think he sees her as a sex doll BUT what I HATED with my heart throughout the series is the unnecessary sex. I don't see it as love scenes cause majority are done either to shut each other out or get away from the reality. Really really unnecessary and uncalled for honestly

I missed a lot... Why did Briel call himself uncle? Isn't he the child of Kentryle's sibling?

Exactly! Aren't they supposed to be cousins?

Just read the lastest chap 109. Honestly, this is one of the stories where it's really interesting at the beginning, but as soon as you get to the climax, things go a bit downhill. I was really hyped up over a FL who has transmigrated multiple times into different worlds, and the fact she was kinda a badass made me have really high expectations for how things would unfold.

The manhwa isn't bad, but the resolution and the fights with the main villains are super duper underwhelming. I know the genre of this manhwa is fantasy-romance not really focused on the action-drama part, but I was a little disappointed. So much thought put on her suffering and lost throughout her multiple lives, but I guess the "main villain" was just used as a plot device to highlight the sisters' close relationship and sacrifice.

I'll still read it until it ends, but it could have been done better. A majority of the story fall really flat, and I wish the story was more evenly paced so that we could fully enjoy some moments that I feel like should have been highlighted more. Maybe the art might fall flat since every character must look super pretty or something.

Anyway, it's not a bad story to read to pass time, but if you are expecting something amazing, I don't think it will satisfy your expectations. The one of good things is that the ML is a pookie and doesn't overshadow the FL's competence, so yeah.

Limeqde August 24, 2026 3:39 am

why is the plot getting ever so slow... I swear 4 chapters could have been 1.

Limeqde July 29, 2026 4:01 am

For some reason, I feel really conflicted. I won't deny the story is really unique. It's pretty interesting in a sense since you can't really predict what might be happening, but I think the issue is that I don't understand where the plot is leading.

There seems to be people who are scheming against the FL, and I don't know if they are trying to direct the church or whatever enemy they had to be the final boss of this story. It is a little bit too vague since the main focus is finding out why FL feels an overwhelming guilt over ML and now that we know, what's next? Centuries/decades of pain mellowed down into longing for what "used" to be; however, it just doesn't sit right to me knowing that this is basically reverse Sherlock Syndrom where captee falls in love with captor. Although Serv spent years in confinement due to her illness and being cursed with her family's trait of obsession, she is reedemable in a sense since she recognizes that fact and tries to right it.

I don't know, man. Maybe Mel is too mentally unstable for me to enjoy this, because I'm always on edge and can't seem to predict what he might do next. I just want Serv to get back her house.

Limeqde July 28, 2026 11:48 pm

I'm just so sad... it's so bittersweet, but having endured years without eachother... man. Best shit I've read just that the ending ruined it a bit. I'll just think the last chapter was just a dream that never happened.

Limeqde July 17, 2026 8:38 pm

this breakup then separation arc... wtf. is this true beauty?

It'll be after the birth of my fourth line of descendants before I could ever finish this manhwa... I've been letting it marinate, but I'm about to give up.

Limeqde July 16, 2026 12:29 am

I didn't expect this manhwa to have a harem route. I don't care if fundamentally they are the same person. It's just super weird. You can have different alternative universes of yourself and fundamentally you might be the same person in essence, but at the end of the day, we could look the same but our experiences and surroundings can shape us to become different people with different opinions and attitude.

    Limeqde July 16, 2026 12:30 am

I didn't read chapter 164, and spouted the same shit as MC lmaoo

Limeqde July 12, 2026 12:31 am

I read this manhwa a long time ago. It took me by surprise that there were side stories to it.... Honestly I have no words that could express what this manhwa has stirred in me. It's breathtakingly beautiful. It's a masterpiece. Thank you authornim and the artist and all the team that made this come true. I wholeheartedly love it. The last few chapters of the side stories made me cry. The inclusion of a new character might have been sudden but his appearance really left an impact. So fucking wonderful
