Lets goooo! Just when you think it can't get better. The author figured out a smooth way for Ideum to meet Jaeyi's brother from the very beginning by making Jaeyi's brother a competitive swimmer and having Ideum be signed up for swimming classes for his bl writing. The not-boyfriend-only-fuck-buddy is continuing to give boyfriend vibes. Only thing is this is lowkey giving same face syndrome bc the brother looks almost identical to Jaeyi. At one frame, I thought it was Jaeyi with a wig on.
To be honest, even though I'm not very invested in this story, I think this whole cliche kidnapping arc is sort of interesting. We finally get to see Yeomin run again. >.<.
The defiant, stubborn, and strong-willed side of him is finally being showcased here. At the very least, we get to read how both Taesoo and Yeomin feel about this confrontation. It's so clear to me that Taesoo is reacting this way because. even though he has mutual feelings for Yeomin, he's scared--scared of Yeomin leaving him. Taesoo realizes that Yeomin has shown this side of himself before, in the past towards his student who tried to bully him, but NOW, that very determined, resolute face is now directed towards himself. I think he realizes deep down that Yeomin has made up his mind and won't change it. THAT's why he is reacting so brutally violent and aggressive.
Very refreshing is that Yeomin sticks to his guns AND during the kidnapping arc, there's no sexual abuse. Yeomin full on faces him and ASKS him outright what their relationship is, what he means to him, why he wants him to stay and fully recognizes that whatever he was hoping for, would never come true.
I have to say with the new volumes, the time skip proved to be very strategically well placed. I read spoilers and still did not anticipate for Saimon to kill Seijuro. I did not at all anticipate that Reiko was a beta and in fact everybody BUT Iori is either a beta or an omega. The plot twist wasn't just shocking but a testament to the irony of this society they live in. The fact that the child most disappointing and average and doubted turned out to be the only alpha in the Hanabusa family - Iori. The twisted nature of Seijuro in wanting so hard to prove that he, a beta, could pass off as an alpha and ended up pulling it off. This story is wild in the best way. It truly conveys the idea of how this type of twisted, prejudiced society will push people to go to drastic measures to attain or keep power bestowed only to one class--alphas.
THIS is how you do a fuck buddy trope. The dynamic between them. The art. The communication. The sprinkling of actual back story. The fact that Jaeyi isn't an asshole. Finally, someone knows how to write. Its not just smut and sex throughout all the chapters. In fact sometimes we skip the sex scenes to get some actual relationship development. Ughh I look forward to this every Thursday.
What was the point of the amnesia arc? I actually saw a comment saying how they always come up with some bullshit "plot" after babies come. For real what was the point of the cousin being antagonistic?! This is such a waste of chapters/volumes. I was actually excited they continued the story but I think I take it back. If you don't have anything meaningful to add to the relationship, there really would be no point in continuing the story. Just give us cute side stories and call it a day.
Genuine question bc I dont see their dynamic changing all that much and I think I heard spoilers that ML remains a gangster and MC remains a detective. Those roles are the complete opposite of each other and is a conflict of interest. So where do we go from here if neither of them relents their careers/jobs? The MC just looks the other way when his mans is killing people on the down low?
Although the dynamic is fun and comedic at times, the ML is a little too pushy. The MC is too lenient even tho he's supposed to be hard on boundaries. It doesn't bode well for this couple when the ML is legit an actual gangster who is actually killing people. All he does is push and push and the MC just takes it. It started well but I just don't know how they can salvage this relationship and make it believable to the readers.
I gave this a chance bc ppl claimed it was a masterpiece and so wonderfully well written. I have to say, I got quite confused esp due to the pacing and timeline. The chapters are a little all over the place esp with it not revealing how much time has passed until something happens and the characters just go ahead and say it out loud. One chapter they've gotten back to the island, and the next they solve the orcs situation and live on the side. Then all of a sudden Ilse is dead but apparently its been DECADES since. I would've appreciated a "10 years later" title or at least more physical change in appearances to show the passage of time.
The issue with the orcs was sorta forgotten and then followed up a few chapters later. Jonak's and Adain's relationship was glossed over a lot through many decades that was only broken down into a couple of chapters. It didn't feel like they truly understood each other. It didn't translate the true love for me bc of the lack of showing and expanding their relationship. The don't sleep together for what appears to be decades and then decades later (a chapter later) they talk about it like huh? You've been together for how many decades and slept apart for how many years? AND didn't talk about it for how many years?
The whole Anne arc with Adain's brother came out of left field. Like what? Wasn't this Anne the supposed Shultz family member who had a set goal in mind to remove the rules and get rid of this role that has her family in a chokehold? Tbh it wasn't explained that well what her ambitions were unless someone can give me a clearer explanation. But my question is how tf did she go from "eliminating the tilt of justice towards rank" to "straying off the path" and setting up orcs to be female human kidnappers and using magic to make it fatal for orcs to give birth... like how does that achieve her dumbass goal? What? she just gave up and chose to ruin it for everybody too?
Overall the lore was interesting but the execution left much to be desired. With this much lore and this much content, it should've been way longer than only 2 volumes (12 chapters) to truly dive into the topics it wanted to touch on.
I wanna know who tf lied to me bc I kept seeing this online and how great it is....I started at chapter 1 to 9 and skipped around.
I love a toxic bl when there's good angst. But wtf was this?!?
I skipped around to get the story going and every other chapter is just them fucking and Nan calling himself pathetic but still pinning and loving the emotionless, no personality, punkass CEO. He spent a good 5-10 chapters still fucking the CEO after he quit. Maybe in the 10-15 chapters I skipped there was some substance there but I highly doubt it.
I still do not know who the hell these characters are bc most of the chapters were just a repeat of the same thing OVER AND OVER. Emotionless CEO fucks him and shows some kind sides of himself but STILL no personality traits I can even detect. While Lee is repeatedly obsessed with CEO's looks, drooling over him and crying internally bc its unrequited. He also just keeps on saying he's pathetic but chooses to sleep with the CEO every single time. He's self aware--but that's it.
I do not know what people find compelling or entertaining about this manhwa. The pacing is god awful. The story is just repeat on repeat but lacks actual progress in the story. The characters are stagnant--never growing. Could've shortened this from 60 ch to 20 and nobody would notice.
I can read these mangas many times! I rate them >9.5/10 based on my own preferences, so there will be lots of non-mainstream BL

I'm so upset when I saw the 13th chapter was the end. I felt in my gut that this was gonna be a good one and a long manhwa. This ruined my day. There was SOO MUCH THEY COULD'VE EXPLORED with 2 green flags and omegaverse being a new concept. What. The. Fuck.
