the water motif is super interesting in this story. i did a reread and whenever ideum starts to feel something towards jaeyi he becomes submerged in water. plus the whole jaeyi quitting swimming (related somehow to his brother) it’s so intriguing to me i can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

fundamentally ideum is a character that believes he isn’t able to love because he never experienced it, and now he’s being cared for by jaeyi and feeling things he hasn’t ever felt before (love? like? something more than lust?) and that’s displayed in the story by this recurring motif of water that shows up especially clearly in ch 19 (his dream)

jaeyi on the other hand has pushed aside his own desires so wholeheartedly that he sees himself as someone dispassionate and uninterested in anything around him, but he’s clearly really fascinated by ideum and has been from the start. also in the reread he’s kind of a pushover lmaoo he’s an asshole about it so ppl don’t notice but he lets people cross his boundaries and push him into things all the time. just thought i’d share my thoughts on the actual story bc i think it’s rlly compelling and well written :)

convo in here is interesting but i’m having a hard time understanding wanting Perfectly Negotiated Consensual kinky sex in a smut manhwa that started with exhibitionism… i mean im sure some people want a manhwa where they negotiate a scene and come up w safewords etc but would that really serve the narrative? bc this is a Story about a relationship and not an instruction manual for safely navigating kinky play. keep yourselves safe from what you don’t enjoy! u dont have to read things that involve dubcon/cnc especially if u do it just to claim moral superiority to readers and the author. altho it does seem hard to avoid in the bl manhwa space interestingly. but in this case it’s been like that from chapter 1 y’all manage ur expectations maybe

i think it’s more realistic for ideum to realize his feelings first because he’s a really internal character (and a writer!! he’s constantly using his own experience and emotions to write!!) whereas we see jaeyi mainly from the perspective of other people. like his closest friend was already like hmm ur different w this guy but jaeyi seems very skilled at shutting down his emotions (like whatever’s going on with his brother and having quit both swimming and judo)
