In the manhwa chapter 81, it seems the characters such as the Duchess and Princess has more freedom and help with Edith not being presecuted while in the Novel, technically the duchess was still unconscious, and technically when Edith gave herself up she was still battered and hadded some bruises and was almost freezing due to the thin clothes she was wearing. When she went up at the gallow platform, seeing the shaped and conditions Edith was, Killion was the one to asked the dad to carry out Edith's punishment since he was her husband, once he got close to her he asked her about the event of the kidnapping (he just wanted for Edith to speak her truth and about her innocence) but Edith misunderstood and this made Edith accept her punishment and lower her head (she was tired and didn't wanted to argue or proved her innocence so she just lower her head as a sign of offering her neck to Killion) which lead to her breaking the 3rd condition which was for Edith to accept her death without fusing or trying to escape her death punishment. (Which in the novel she read the Ediths always fought to stay alive or didn't wanted to die so they always fuss about which lead to their deads).
This made Killion decided, and he was the one who shout that he wouldn't kill her since she was no longer a Rigelhof but a Rudwick and his wife and therefore no punishment would come to her since she wasn't a traitor. This only made the maid angry (the maid that abused Edith) and she screamed the truth about Edith's not being the real daughter of the Rigeldoff, about edith's upbringing and abuse and how no matter how pitiful they feel towards Edith, they wouldn't be as free knowing how she was treated while living under Ridwick's roof.
There's more but i won't spoiler you too much. Go and enjoy reading the novel. Because i kind of like how they portrayed Killion more on his freedom than the others and how this new chapter 81 in the manhwa was a complete letdown for me because they took away the ML's salvation for his wife and gave it to the duke who had been a complete incompetent jerk to Edith all the time (i understand he was manipulated to follow the author's words but still)... You'll see what i mean about the duchess and duke when you get to that 100+ chapters in the novel.

If the story follows the novel, it will be over soon. There will be one last twist and a very abrupt end. It’s been sometime since I read it so could be wrong.
