Rather than his attitudes not matching his personality, I would say many people come into this with their perception that he is a cruel evil mastermind that lead to the surprise. Grayson has always acted like an overconfident and privilege jerk who try to act like he sympathize with people but in fact never understand what other people feel. His desire to find a perfect mate matches the fact that he saw other people beside him (parents, friends, family) finding love, marriage and believes he also deserve someone like that. Wanting love doesnt need to be a childish belief, it can be a selfish wish as well. That's why the method he used to find his love is going around sleeping with people until he thinks they are the one.

Also, this is barely the beginning of their story. We started with their first meeting and until now their only relationship is colleague + the hide and fight about Grayson trying to find out Dane is an omega, they are nothing to each other yet. If they suddenly develop chemistry just by staying close to each other a few months, that would be lazy writing to say the least. And Grayson cant suddently become likable when his whole character established since previous story is him being a crazy asshole, him suddenly acting docile, understanding to Dane just because he thinks Dane is his perfect love will be lazy writing again.

And so many people bring back what he said in kmiyc but forgetting the context that he has always been saying how releasing pheromone is a must do thing for a dominant alpha. Dont want to go berserk from pheromone build up and rape someone or something you shouldnt? Go release your pheromone yourself, at least you can choose who you sleep with. Does it make his action correct? No, but it shows how distorted his brain has always been - sleeping with people is just a way to release pheromone to not go berserk, sex doesnt equal love.

If you see his story from his POV and dont like it, that's fine. But this is how his character has always been made to be. Judging him from another person's POV and call it out of character wouldnt be fair.

I will say I do agree with your point about love being a selfish wish for him. He’s done absolutely nothing deserving of the relationships and marriages that the people around him have, and yet he desires it anyway, so I can agree with him being selfish in that regard. But like…do we really think these people got into marriages and loving relationships by sleeping around with randos and being assholes? Probably not. So he’s not mirroring behavior very well there…Not sure what he expects tbh

It being weird if they suddenly have chemistry, is kind of my whole point, to an extent. Other than pheromones, there is NOTHING that leads Greyson to believe that Dane is his ‘true love,’ they don’t get along, they have no chemistry, and yet just upon finding out that Dane is this dominant omega, he suddenly sees him as this true love figure without actually knowing anything about him that would even lead him to believe that he would like the guy. I’m not saying sex equals love by any means, however, you can’t pretend that Greyson has been ‘seriously searching for his true love’ by having one night stands. That’s simply not how relationships work. So him, using one nights stands as a method to “find his love until he thinks they are the one,” doesn’t make any sense, you can’t love someone from having sex with them once no strings attached, unless he thinks love is determined purely by pheromone comparability.

As far as the comment in kmiyc goes, that still doesn’t make his comment about consent in the most recent chapter make ANY sense. Do we think the guy who purposely makes omegas overdose on his pheromones and lets his little brother believe he slept with a dog gives a single shit about consent when the action isn’t directed at him? Also, he literally says, “I couldn’t stand by and watch my brother arrive in absolute agony, so it was a quick fix I brought Alex into the room, it turned out to be quite useless, Chase couldn’t even get an erection, So having no other choice, I used an injection.” That shows CLEARLY that he had every intent to go through with the whole dog thing, had Chase not been able to get it up. Which is absolutely horrific. And regardless of Chases intent, did he really think that leaving his brother to believe he slept with their dog was the ABSOLUTE BEST method and explanation he could have possibly thought of? It’s just idiotic.

Sure, I can acquiesce and say that I guess his idea of true love doesn’t not make sense, although I question his methods of trying to find it. However, regardless of all that, he still comes off as extremely unlikable, even putting aside anything from kmiyc, and I genuinely don’t think I could ever see myself rooting/ supporting/ feeling bad for him regardless of any backstory he may have. It’s nothing against the story, just personal opinion. Having this kind of annoying aloof character who disregards peoples feeling might work for some people, I personally dislike it. Just not my cup of tea, that’s all.

The first thing you see Grayson do when he arrives at the fire station is to sleep with everyone he think might be the omega he was looking for, of course he will try to do the same with Dane here. Isnt the whole point of him stubbornly come after Dane is to check that? At this point he doesnt even love Dane yet, he is just trying to confirm Dane is the dominant omega.

Also he him starting with no sympathy and emotion understanding will of course lead to abnormal conclusion that physical touch with his perfect lover will be different somehow. That is not how a normal relationship works but to a person who see emotions as something that can be imitated, he will do what he thinks make sense to him. Also he was pretending to be a lover to many people before confirming they are not and dump them, it was him playing pretend for a while and not just having sex with no strings attached. That was why there is an ex group hating him.

And for the kmiyc point, did you type that out and somehow miss the 'I couldn’t stand by and watch my brother arrive in absolute agony'? Grayson drops by to ask Chase to come with him multiple times to a pheromome party to release it until the time when Chase went into pheromone shock and literally close to dying here. His method is stupid but so is running aroung looking for random people to rape Chase. That is why Grayson's action is crazy but fits right in his mind that at least it is not rape. The exact same thing will repeat again in the side story where Chase went into rut, come close to dying and Grayson has to come to fetch Josh to his place because at least he knows that is someone Chase is willing to sleep with now. This is an omegaverse where pheromone do more than just sex inducing, it can phsycially harm or destroy someone.

And once again as I said above, you not liking a character is your own preference but complaining they are not acting how they should be is a big claim to make. Your intepretation of how they should be is your own, not the only correct way.

I feel like someone saying, he’s not a normal person who understands normal behavior, to justify reactions that make no sense for anyone who is over the age of 12 and is capable of any kind of pattern recognition is simply lazy.

And If Greyson is SOOOO into consent as the lates chapter would lead you to believe, then he should also believe that is untimely Chases choice to do what he wants with his body. If he’d rather die from pheromone shock than FUCK A DOG, that is something that he should be allowed to do, as he hadn’t consented to anything else. His body his choice. If Chase would rather deal with the pain, that’s his decision to make. And clearly Greyson is mr. consent king over here. ALSO, if the implied situation happened where Greyson had him sleep with a dog, that’s still absolutely rape, and for you to insinuate that that outcome would be, “better than looking for random people to rape” is genuinely INSANE.

My interpretation come from the literal later chapters where Dane talked to Ash, Grayson and Chase's father and they go into details about Grayson's childhood as well as that specific dog incident. That is fact written by the author herself if you can bother to wait more to see the story unfold. At this point we barely see a glimpse on the childhood and relationship of both Grayson and Dane, of course the details are not there yet.

And once again a point about Grayson action he is acts base on what he think is right and I have never tried to justify it. You already see the same situation happens earlier about the child being looked up and the way Grayson thought he was 'helping'. Saying he doesnt deserve to call out rape because you somehow think he endorses or encourages rape due to the dog incident is wrong.

At the end I have repeated again and again that whether you like him or not is your preference and I would have 0 problem if you just trash talk about how insufferable he is to you. But claiming how he is not acting the way he should act based on 1/3 of the full story and how he potrayed in one other story is something I feel unfairly judged. You are sharing your opinion and I'm sharing mine base on what I know will be addressed later.

My critique was based on the current chapters is the Manwha, I haven’t read the novel, and am going based solely on that information. You can’t assume that someone who hasn’t read the novel is going to have the same amount of insight and apparent affection towards Greyson than someone who hasn’t.

I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve to call out rape, i’m just saying it feels awkward and hypocritical and a bit jarring.

All I said was that I felt like his world view felt like it came out of left field, based on all the available chapters I have read, that was literally it! How is that unfairly judging?

You shared an opinion and I also shared mine with no insults whatsoever but you somehow start calling me acting up for no reason along the way. It's exactly because I know people wont have the full insights that I shared what I know will be addressed later on without spoiling the whole story. I have been doing the same since people complained Dane was acting weirdly aggresive to Grayson for asking if he is an omega because people somehow thinking a character not acting like they do in kiss me liar/ kiss me if you can is wrong characterization. If you dont care enough about me then just go ahead and block me to call it a day.

The theme of the story is healing, and more than one characters needs that. It is slowburn. Look at where we are now, it actually the chapters you could read on the first/second day the webonovel started releasing.
Characters develop over time. And in this case both characters need their time.

When it comes to Grayson in stories like Kiss me liar and Kiss me if you can, you can't lable him as a good or evil character, because the author wrote him as someone in the grey area. Most of the time he is someone with good intentions, but because of the issues he has turned out problmatic or weird. That actually leads to some misinterpretations by readers, probably because of a bad translation or stuff that is missing out in the manhwa adaptions. Or they are just forget that they are reading a specific omegaverse. Because it is not that obvious, since the pov is a different one, but still there.

So I would either stop reading or go on reading but try to be more open minded, or you will be disappointed. Grayson is the character I think the author put the most energy and time in, he is in my opionion the author's best developed character.
It doesn't matter if you like Grayson in the end or not, he just is.
For their chemistry it will also come over time, at the moment they are more like two halves of a whole idiot, so chemisty is already there in some form.lol

Both are still far away of being ready for being in a relationship or wanting to be in one. And to get through to Dane, that is something else, and it has nothing to do with Grayson.

I do dislike Grayson, and that is partly due to the events surrounding chase (i adore chase, he’s totally up my alley characer personality wise,) but more so I just genuinely just find this kind of aloof, unserious, bit clueless, doesn’t really care about others feelings and written to be kind of purposely irritating mc types a bit annoying, and just not personally my cup of tea.

Obviously we’re early into the story, and i’m sure Grayson will become more likable as the story goes on, but it does make it personally harder for me to connect with the character. Nothing against the author for that, it’s all personal preference! I hope he grows on me, It’ll obviously make the read more fun if he does, but as of right now he’s just not doing it for me.

I’m not a quitter, and I was really looking forward to Dane getting his own story since I loved him in kiss me liar, so i’ll keep reading it anyway. I’m just not sure this is going to be my favorite story by the author, no shade against them, just how it is.

Grayson suffers from Alexithymia . You can google about Alexithymia. It doesn’t have medication and it doesn’t gets cured all of a sudden. Time heals Alexithymia.
