i think this was such a good wakeup call of ettien. like rishar is simply not fit to be emperor, his one and only concern in life is ettien, to the point where it blinds him to everything else. a true ruler has to look at things in totality as opposed to only focusing on one aspect. rishar has shown time and time again he just can't do that. the only option for Emperor, a good emperor, is ettien. rishar can be an imperial consort or something.
