Okay. Maybe this is just me being really angry. I'd give the overall story a solid 8/10! I love the FL so much! She, to me, is so sad and so beautiful. Her heart is brave and she's just very kind. Her strength isn't on her skills or ability to fight, I find that strength of her more in her heart. Now the reason why it's an eight? Well. Docked a lot of points cause of the ML. I just finished some novel spoilers and I may not recall some details properly because it's late and I'm still up So sorry if I misinterpreted some details but spoilers are free to search up online!

Where do I even begin? Well before all of you starts to defend a man to me, again, especially this ML, I will lay out my reasons why I hate HATE HATE him, and I pray the mahnwa actually tries a different approach to his character cause while reading the novel spoilers, I just kept cussing him out cause he’s the biggest btch I have ever met, yet. Like I genuinely hate him to my core, and I really, really wish FL did not end up with him. Even until the end of the story, in the novel, she did not love him at all. Rather, it felt like she eventually came to like him back because she has no choice (she had to marry him to SAVE him), and because they’re “married” ML won’t let go of her. I think it’s very telling that even the sword, her brother Adrian, and the divine beast she gained eventually, and even Adrian’s mother (who called him out on his bullsht)— all do not like the ML for FL at all. And I agree! Like why would they even be end game at this point?

So. As I said, my reasons.

1. In her past life, she was punished by him for “poisoning” his little sister, locking her in a tower where she eventually formed a contract with the Light God. She was supposed to be executed for her “crime” even if ML’s brother knows that she’s just a puppet here, but yeah. She then begs him not to kill her saying she can help save the world as demonic beasts now ran rampant. She begs him to even cut off her limb if he wants to, but she begs not to die so she can fulfill the contract she made. ML DOES this, btw. She had to fight against the demonic beasts without a LIMB, relying on herself to get healed because both brothers (ML and his brother) would glare at her even if she’s already helping them. When FL eventually had to go into the underworld to fulfill the contract, ML tries to stop her. On her death grave, ML JUST REALIZES HE LIKES HER BACK TOO. WHO THE FCK DOES THAT? Insane, right? I wanna mention it’s around this time, the ML’s brother also realizes he LOVES her too and the reason why he kept antagonizing her was because he LIKES seeing her other expressions beside her ‘lovesick’ one. WHAT THE FCK IS WRONG WITH THIS FAMILY?

That’s just reason number one.

2. Even in the next life! He only cared for her when she started to change and try to survive on her own two feet. When she’s no longer crying after him, begging his attention, he’s suddenly interested? And only cared for her when she saved his sister? This is also when I want to bring up that HE danced with that other girl on her debutante, and it’s stated that girls would only dance first with their SIGNIFICANT OTHER on their debutante, so the OG FL is rightfully upset with him dancing with that other girl. And he did not give a fck. He did not care. Whatever. He had reasons, fck it, but he could’ve at least AT LEAST tried to idk console her a bit? Oh wait no, sorry, I forgot—he just doesn’t care for her.

3. The ML thwarted FL’s carefully made plans. Even when FL had called him a burden. He still is a burden. Usually ML would help the FL in her plans, but this mf just bulldozes it. Granted, obv, the consequences aren’t that big and the FL did not inform him at all of the plans, but it’s just like frustrating to add this plot line or detail cause nobody likes him already. And this just made it worse even if it’s unintentional and reasonable. I mean yeah he didn’t know, but on the second time he thwarted her plan or attempts to plan when he KIDNAPPED her.

Which brings me to number four.

4. ML kidnapped her and brought her straight to the enemy’s mansion! What?! In what world??? Like he made a deal with the Dark God to allow him to use his body as a vessel in exchange that they won’t hurt FL but like, really? You made a deal with her enemy? The villains she’s trying to… fight? I was so surprised at this plot because what the fck man, again, who does that?? He’s just so desperate to be with her when she had COUNTLESS TIMES rejected this “love”, even insisting they could just become decent colleagues. The sword felt something from the ML, like the dark god’s influence in him and is disgusted by him.
This brings me back to number five.

5. There was a plot where she eventually escaped all this chaos (like right before he kidnaps her I think?) but she escaped and she’s living fine, on her own, away from chaos and he emotionally BLACKMAILS her to show her face to his family because his family misses her. How grand of the ML. What ML would he be without coercion, LOL. Even the sword saw through his fake crying (he faked crying because he figured out FL has a soft heart whenever people looks sad or whatever) and is rightfully upset at him.

Last but not the least!

6. He did not help her fight her enemy at all. I mean being a dark magic user sure didn’t mean they’re evil, ML’s mother was a dark magic user which is why the Duke kind of concealed her, but she believed dark magic can be used for good. Okay, got that point. BUT his body was then taken over by the dark god and FL has to kill him and he had the audacity to cry at the fact that he’s burdening her again with his death. Whatever. This is the point where FL made him stamp a marriage? Certificate so when they’re married, ML would share the sword’s power as well, and he will be saved even after she stabbed him. Blabla, she won, he survived. Now, I am not against the FL saving the ML, but usually, they’re on the same side. Whatever, guess this one was an interesting angle, but the point here is HE NEVER MADE HER LIFE EASIER.

FL herself called him a burden. He still became a burden. I really hate him. I spent the last few minutes stewing at the fact that FL and ML are now Demi-gods, therefore staying together forever. That feels like a fcking punishment— being stuck with him. Also I’m saying this because the FL herself had not shown any ounce of real affection to him. Like sure there were moments where she thought he’s handsome or like some hear-fluttering moments between them, but I never once read her say she loves him. It’s the opposite. She has been so hurt by him that she actively rejects or tried to bury that love for him, and it’s dead. She just doesn’t love him anymore. FL’s more focused on her own world, her own survival and he’s just there. There’s no indication she fell in love with him eventually. It’s more like the feelings from her past life coming back, and the forced proximity with him kinda made it that. I mean sure we can argue no love story is perfect. But he’s just awful to her. She has been hurt by him. A LOT. This is not the kind of ML I want for an FL who suffered three timelines, and numerous death just trying to feel love!

Now that I've finished writing this, I may have been too mad. Like he's such an infuriating ML. Ok you can remind me of HIS trauma and his guilt etc etc but even then and I get that. There's been a lot of discussion trying to humanize him as well and I get that, but I can't like him as an ML. Like he keeps saying he can't show emotions etc. but has no problems showing emotions when it comes to his sister? That's so... ugh. Anyway, I just don't like him, sue me, argue with me, I get it. He did have his own sad parts where during the five year time skip he did not show himself to her as it was around before the timeskip she tells him he's a burden etc. He is kinda sad sometimes but UGH. Just no.

Still great story! Would love to read the mahnwa just for the FL <333

Spent the first fcking chapters wishing that guy wasn't the ML cuz wdym he's been treating her LIKE SHT since they were KIDS mind you, so it's years of emotional trauma or neglect he gave her and I'm supposed to root for him as if he didn't just push her to her limit. Like, do you understand how exhausted FMC is to the point she doesn't even have any resentment anymore and thinks it's normal for her fiance to spend time with his childhood friend. And then we get HIS pov and his reason why he's been neglecting her and it's just a stupid excuse if you can even call it that. His excuse was because he forgot? Wtf. How do you claim to love and care for someone but at the same time forget to reply to her letters and actively choose someone else. (Cause spending ZERO lunch with her, even NOT escorting her to balls which is very vital to a society like this, like he's waving a gigantic flag that says he does NOT give a fck about her at all.) I was so fcking happy when Claude was introduced cause I thought finally, she has someone who can match her ambition and personality. But no, unfortunately he has a fiance and he's pretty fcked up in communication skills himself. I WISH FMC will end up choosing herself and just enjoy women friendship and her independence cause that man has literally put her emotions through war and stomped on it. (Not to mention, he embarrassed her by YELLING at the ball in front of the Prince by claiming he doesn't intend to let her go. What a piece of sht.) Even until chapter 19, I do not root for him at all. I wish he'd fail and just wallow in his own self-made misery. The chapter are also written comedically, which in hindsight, COULD be funny but I was not laughing at all, cause the scene of the princess realizing MC is always with her and not his fiance just pissed me the fck off. I couldn't laugh cause this highlights just how neglectful he was to her. Him trying to win her back also irritates me cause why now. Anyway, I know this is the point of the story, for MC to redeem himself and a happily ever after, but I wish they'd take it to a different direction cause FMC would wake up married to a guy who spent almost HALF their lives treating her like she's expendable. Great read tho! Would love more chapters !

Im so confused whats so likeable abt this. She's named the villainess but eventually became Y/N herself, all her problems got solved without her having to do anything significant. Also the second heroine, Lady Ashaira or something, gets the short end of the stick here, she pours the love potion, decided not to, like what is that— it's like the author cant decide what her character will be. Like she wants them to be friends but also a threat like irritating. And LOL FL got the three fairy king's blessings as easy as that? Everybody weird in this manga, I cant believed this is animated. Idc if you reply your disagreement, this manga is NOT good enough, not even for a good read. This whole story is a mess and so obv just riding the bandwagon of villainesses otome game stories etc etc.

I do not recommend this at all.
