like it SOOO outlandish that woman are treated like this (it lack historical context, and yes it's fictional but it still matter), when women are still being treated like in today Society and world (and in the past as well) ╮(￣▽￣)╭
really? because it feels like a overdramatized satire and critique of the sexism that still exists in korea today. ya know, lately in south korean news, many women in high positions have had to make public apologies to their male supporters for embracing the feminism label at the risk of losing their jobs. that petty stuff is still happening.
surprisingly, the more dramatic and exaggerated the sexism was in the story, the more it felt like things I had experienced... I would call it good writing if it was a satire. the feeling of being trapped, needing to manipulate your way out for your own safety.. it hit the nail on the head.
all the women were clearly defined as victims of circumstance, and it portrayed that very well.. i don't think the author was misinformed. it detailed well many forms of sexism that a girl can face, still even from family members who became fond of her.
And the fact that they didn't pit the mc and her love rival as enemies, but as friends & allies instead, already made the story overcome a badly educated and overused cliche. that by itself gives me hope about the message of the story.
You know what's written by cis male? Boobs and bums, plus lots of them. Those action manga/anime where wearing thin clothes is ridiculous but still will do anyway. This is furthur from that.. So much furthur..
You're blowing this way out of the water. That might've been what the author WANTED to portray, but in my opinion, he/she didn't portray it well. This entire manga kinda just felt like a harem romance story. Maybe that's just me, but I still feel like most of the serious issues weren't portrayed serious enough. Plus, it's mostly only women. There's no minorities working in those fields. There's no way you can tell me that the people wouldn't discriminate the colored as well. All the main characters are basically white. There is a homosexual boy, but he's often being put as the butt of a joke. Not very moving if you ask me.
