Honestly one of the best mangas I've ever read, there are many mangas about dungeons or stories about dungeons and many of those stories fail because in truth that whole dungeon thing is an ass. But if an author does it right, it can be one of the most inspiring, creative, and interesting stories out there. Not only does Meshi have good protagonists and a great plot, but the world that is built around this manga is quite something. No creature in this manga goes without biological compounds, for example, the slime being explained as an actual organism with actual parts that could make it a reality. Also, this manga has great female characters, including great characters who have actual goals and ambitions. Look in the first half it may draw you in has this cheery fun story with cute protagonists and stuff, it gets dark, and I don't mean disturbing dark but it's truly dark. I won't lie I think the author went with a horror-type manga, but not so sure about that, but either way that little lul of happiness and love in the begging turns into this rotten and emotional twist the further they go down into he dungeon. Truly an amazing manga, wish there was more and that ending really brought me to my knees.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this manga it seemed like the very normal magic oppressed magic manga and didn't really passionately read it at the beginning. But I must say this manga has really grown, not only do we have villains on both sides of the main groups but we also have extremely developed characters with trauma and ideals. We can see both sides of each world here, we can see how the magic users are oppressed and used almost as slaves/tools for the Inquisition but we also see the Inquisition side of the problem. Not only that but our main cast all have passions, our MC wants to save the world and is an extreme pacifist (which can be annoying), and our other characters were not "forced" on the journey like many other mangas do instead they were strung along by their dreams and the MCs passion for his dream. Mentioning dream we can also see throughout the story the MC's dream gets challenged multiple times with different events and characters. Now to talk about how the magic system works here is extremely interesting. Not only is it from being cursed but this manga is a steampunk magic-like rogue manga which is fucking amazing and I have never seen that. but it also makes sense. You get touched by a nemesis, you get cursed/infected, and you now have the ability to connect to the magic element of this world. also to talk about how magic isn't overpowered in this world is amazing because I was expecting the MC to rock all these inquisitors like ham. I will say that sometimes the character's ideals and actions can be a little annoying because as we read the story we make our own opinions many of them are Anit-Inquisition which is expected but I really like how he has this attitude because it makes him unique. For my last rant, I really, REALLY, like the mystery in this manga, like I wanna know who bred those clones. anyway if your looking for a new manga to read or you have dropped this one i suggest returning and reading it all over again trust me its worth it.

this is an incredibly interesting idea and story, I will have to read it again because it takes a lot of mind space to actually take in the story
