Can anyone explain what Karas is doing mixing the salt drug elsewhere? Is he trying to make the entire kingdom addicted? Im confused.
He is trying to destroy the council. People are getting addicted by the salt they get from the churches that the council and the aristocrats run. Once people put realize this church is to blame, they will turn on the council and the king will step forward and say, the council has also been drugging me and as they drugged you, let’s disband and execute them. The people won’t oppose, they’ll support this and therefore the council will be disbanded. This is better than trying to force out the council by force where they people will not support this. Or go against the council in a civil war. The loss of lives and state funds would be greater with the later two options.
If the poison comes from the church its a way to remove their authority, nobles aligned with the council are also getting church support. In the end its a sacrifice any commoner who trusts the free church meals, along side anyone associated with the church.
