I like how the author explored the prejudice (and heteronormativity) of sex role in gay relationship. And unlike most yaoi mangas, she also explained that top/bottom is NOT a fixed position. I hope more mangas like this exists. It's time for authors and readers to stop being so obsessed about who's on top or who's on bottom, stop assuming sex position based on appearance/certain characteristic traits, stop making gay relationship heteronormative. In general, i just wish people stop policing how sex between men should be--when they're neither man nor queer.

I do have problems with this manga, though... first, why couldn't they just refer each other as "husband" instead of "wife"? It's just so weird and feels diminishing for m/m marriage. Second, i get that the mother is desperate for grandchild, but is it really necessary to force them to have sex, not to mention that his son could have raped the councelor? Can i please have abo stories with NO dubcon? It would be a better and more powerful story if both of them resolved the problem on their own. If i were any of them i would have cut ties with the mom, no matter what her intention is.

The mom had cameras and probably men ready to interfere if her son was going to attack.

Well, tbh i didn't catch that because i skipped her part entirely. I don't care what her reason or plan was, it's still wrong and invasive. Like i said, i would cut ties with my mom if she put me in that kind of situation, no matter what her intention, and no matter that she had some sort of security measure (which, again, doesn't excuse her doing at all) or not.

I don’t remember exactly why she did that but i remember her son saying that his mom had to take care of him alone and had to go through lots of hardship so it made her go intense. I think the mom had good intentions and she was aiming for her kid’s happiness.

Yes, and i still don't care. I've been in a non-con situation and it's the worst thing i've experienced. The idea of a mother willingly putting her own son in that situation is appalling to me. I don't care about her background. I don't care that she thought she was doing her son a favor. It's wrong, it's disgusting, and it shouldn't be excused, whatever her intention was.

This manga is truly wonderful. I can go for days talking about stuffs that i love about it, but i want to address a rather serious topic here. I saw the raws and got the idea that kanou had his happy ending, but i wish the author could've explored ways of handling depression without making it like having romantic partners is the solution. Romance isn't an answer to depression. It might be a reason for someone to keep going, but you can't expect it to cure mental illness. The way kanou perceives it, when he thought, "if i could find a new love i'd be alright" or "will my next heartbreak really kill me?" makes me sad. With or without lovers, kanou will always have difficulties with his emotions. It's just who he is, and he has to find ways to accept and deal with it independently. Mentally ill people (including me) can be happy without romance in their life. That's why i'm sad that the manga is not longer. Kanou's friendship with the highschool boy is an example of how platonic relationship can also help with mental illness, and i wish we could see it more ㅠㅠ

Aside from all that, i love this manga to pieces. I see myself in kanou, and i know a lot of readers do too. I'm truly rooting for him. I hope he finds comfort in his relationship with the boss and that it can be a motivation for him to seek acceptance within himself, so that he can be happy no matter what happens in the future.

Sorry, but i think he is. I say that because i'm diagnosed with depression, and kanou's behavior is a lot like mine. Depression doesn't have to be "major", in fact it's in little things: he lives just because he doesn't feel like killing himself, he ignores his friends' attempts to contact him, he sleeps and does nothing in his free time, he has mood swings, feels down even when he looks like he doesn't, he's literally hanging on the interaction he has with the highschool boy (and now his boss) to keep on going. Before he met the boy, he didn't even have a reason to live, and you can't say that it's healthy. He could be depressed because of his heartbreak. But we also see that he has problem with accepting his personality (he thinks he's weak for others' affection, he gives too much and doesn't receive enough

etc). That means the problem is not external, it's internal. What will happen if he breakup with the boss? He himself wondered whether it would really kill him this time. That means he knows he has suicide tendencies, eventhough he doesn't act on it. A lot of stuffs in the manga points out that he's depressed. But that's just my opinion, of course, you're welcome to disagree.

Just like other nishida higashi's stories, i like it but i really wish she hadn't included rape... like seriously i don't understand why she has to include rape/dubcon in most of her works. Like ace no kyujitsu, for example, it could have been loads better without the unnecessary dubcon at the beginning. Same with division :/

I really hope doyun would stop being childish and using taehan for his own convenience. Why does he hate taehan that much anyway? Just because taehan called him an alpha? It was a mistake that could have been easily corrected if only he would say outright that he's not an alpha. Moreover, taehan was nothing but considerate after he found out that doyun is an omega. He helped him eventhough they had bad relationship, he didn't take advantage on doyun, he didn't "out" doyun as an omega to other people, he even cast aside his pride and properly asked doyun out because he knows what they have is worthy to be taken seriously. So i really don't understand why doyun treated taehan so badly. I understand that he's in denial but it's just too much. Unless there is more to doyun's past that can explain his attitude towards taehan. Granted it's only 19 chapters so far but i hope the author doesn't drag that behavior on (i said this because i know korean authors tend to drag pointless plot points just to meet their requirements from webtoon platforms).

dubu January 13, 2019 1:31 pm

lol at sumire asking yuri "do you think i only care about appearance, do you think i'm that kind of man?"

like, dude. you said you hate ugly people. you spent the first 20 chapters or so telling yuri that she's ugly and fat, now you're angry she doesn't have the confidence to believe that you love her?

i first read this manga around 15 years ago and thought that it was the sweetest story ever. now i'm just cringing at everything.

the ads arent that short, and you gotta watch about 10-25 to get one episode, but enough coins for 11 episodes costs about 5 bucks so if that's okay for you go for it

It varies. I've gotten anywhere from 30 to 10 coins. It typically gives me 30 for the first couple of ads, then drops to 20 and if I watch ads for long enough it goes to 10. But it always resets for me every couple of days.

ig i meant package wise cause i always buy packages. i was thinking along the lines of if you can't buy enough coins in the dollar package, just straight jump to 5 bucks to cover all the episodes
but if you work it out it's 2600 for 13 episodes altogether and 99 cents for 800 coins which works out to 4 whole groups cause i don't think they let you buy parts of packages. so you'd spend about 4 bucks
if you buy them all seperately it's 3250 coins for an approximate 5 bucks
might as well drop it on the 5k coins then lmao

This may sound mean but why do i feel like korean webtoons always have the most interesting plot but they kinda suck at developing and resolving it? It might be because of the pressure from the platform (lehzin etc) or the readers, but i think it's a shame for a lot of great webtoons that aren't explored to their full potential. I guess this is the con of releasing work online and having a real time feedback from readers... because as much as it's a great input, it could become a pressure for the creators to fulfill the expectation. But great job nonetheless, it was fun to read ^^

    Anonymous November 7, 2017 5:35 am

There have been a lot of great Korean webtoons that had great resolvement and developement like Fools and Out of Control or even some that are not BL like Lookism and Something about Us . But i do agree with your statement about the amount of pressure the platform puts on the authors especially when they screw them over. Also it was Haribo’s first work so i can understand why it was hard developing it. When i read alot of Japanese mangaka’s first works they are often hard to follow or not developed well just because it was their first work and then they end up making more mangas that are great down the line. So im sure Haribo will make more stories that will be great.

    dubu November 7, 2017 7:31 am

Yes there are webtoons that are well developed and resolved but most of them (especially BL) are unable to be that way because: 1. Contracts (number of episode, popularity of the series that can cause it to get cut shorter than originally planned, etc) 2. Pressure from readers, which can be very demanding in asking for the story to be developed in a certain way, and causes the creator to feel pressured and in the end change the story midway to appease the readers. I hope the rest of ongoing webtoons can be better tho...

dubu November 2, 2017 2:27 pm

This is by far the most serious BL manga/manhwa/webtoon ive ever read... and i'm so so thankful for the creators because a lot of BL materials only revolve around sex and fetishize the fact that the main characters are gay. As a gay person, it bothers me a lot seeing those kind of stories (and readers) who only focus on sexual aspect of the story. So it's really refreshing and touching to see stories like this... that honestly explore many other aspects in the main characters' live than their "gayness".

But!! Spoiler alert!! I've read the raws until the end, and i have to say that i'm a bit disappointed with the ending. Don't get me wrong, i TOTALLY want them to be happy together (and they are indeed portrayed as happy at the end) but i wish the author hadn't rushed the story... there are a lot of unanswered questions. I wish to know about other characters, mainly Gale, since he just disappeared and his motive stays unclear until the very end.

Otherwise, though... this is a very great story... i do wish the creators could have explored the other characters, because they're very interesting and important to the story. But other than that, i'm very glad that i found and read this webtoon.

    Vaccines November 3, 2017 12:34 pm

It was a pretty rushed and half hearted ending for a few reasons the author had to do it and hopefully move on in her career. The first reason is the piracy and the audience who reads the manhwa on illegal websites such as this one and actually cause the author and Lezhin to lose money. If you follow the artists Twitter she does complain about piracy quite often. The second reason is the comics lack of popularity on the official website. It only made it to top 5 and top 10 most popular on Lezhin comics charts when the author Koogi talked about the story and people researched it but after a couple of weeks the hype was gone and the comic had a mediocre to bad performance in the official sales. The comic has a lot of issues its not even close to being a masterpiece also the author says some controversial things about the series on her social media which her audience doesn't embrace so she had to make this very yaoi, rushed and cliche ending because she got tired and a convensional happy ending it's more popular and comercial than a bold and ambitious original open or even sad ending.

That's a pity because it's such a good story. To think only cliche and uncontroversial stories well more than original and conventional stories is a crying shame. That is what makes stories unique. Storytelling (especially in BL stories) has gone to shit.

    Vaccines November 4, 2017 5:55 am

Thank you for understanding why i have issues with the story but especially with the ending. You see i considered Dark Heaven to be a really dark themed story with some homosexual aspects on it.Just like killing stalking which not really a BL .So just like for killing stalking i would not like an ending in which Sangwoo goes to jail and Yoonbum goes to therapy. That would be boring cliche and unrealistic and not fitting for the story. My expectetions were similar for Dark Heaven.I expected something different something original and unique about the story. Most couples don't make it through so many difficulties especially when they are completely different personalities like Simon and Connor. And they do such an unstable job in the show buisiness which doesn't guarantee you success, stability and good money. The music industry is such that one day an artist can be on the top of the world and the next homeless. It's a very uncertain job and thinking realistically how long will Simon and Connors career last? They are already 28 years old an only making their debut. They are quite old for that.Plus we don't really know if they are successful because of their talent or because of all the scandals and the huge media coverage of their story.Or just because Simon was famous first .And its kind of ridiculous. We have seen bands breaking and tmembers go solo. That is realistic. And not a solo artist joining a band suddenly.Plus since they work together any problem that occurs in their work could affect their personal lives...

    Yaoifan November 5, 2017 7:01 am

I do agree with you wholeheartedly. Too bad some of the commenters did not like to hear what you had to say. I sympathize because I was also somewhat in a similar situation where I showed disappointed in Connor and the way he treated Kiev but no one seems to like when you point out the ugly faults of their favorite main characters. It's almost funny, lol.

Well, anyway we can say the unique part of this story is that a solo artist, which is Simone, joins a band. Since logically and realistically speaking that has never happened as far as I know, lol.
