Jeez alot of popular yaoi or just yaoi in general is full of rape. Is it wrong? Yes. And I also strongly wish bl authors should make stories that doesn’t fetishizes rape or doesn’t take it seriously.
As a person who’ve read bl for a very long time, back when bl manwhas weren’t so popular in comparison to now, I’ve read how a lot of authors “tried” to redeem the rapist and Just like @fei, Euja didn’t do bad and was honestly better than a lot of yaoi’s which made this story tolerable for me to read. Of course I’m waiting for a rapist yaoi story where the top or bottom suffer severe consequences (like being sent to prison or killed (both fucking rare) ) but it’s gonna take a while to get that unfortunately. At least in waterside night’s case taejoo suffer from mental health issues and extreme guilt which the author written well (of course there’s some stuff I questioned the author’s writing when it comes to the main couple like why the drug thing is necessary in the end when they could of just talked for instance) and try to do every thing he can to make up for the shit he caused for euiyoung. He’s honestly the only ml I read who apologized plenty of times and doesn’t play off the rape or mental torture that he caused for the mc. And his character development compare to other rapists in yaoi was probably one of the best. Yet still I would never call Taejoo a green flag and he’ll always be apart of the “rapist gang” in bl. I also won’t judge people like you who hate the story or the mc bc you have every right to do so. More than a Taejoo fan, I’m a “I want the brothers to be happy” fan.
