I think the illness they are talking about is probably because he is gay, back then they used to think that being gay or lesbian meant you were sick or had a spirit possessing you. I think his father hit him after he saw something or after he said something, i think he was in love with another dude and his father did something to this dude which is why he hates his father and doesn't go back home. I can't shipp her with the actor famous dude because the childhood friend guy is exactly my type plus he is so nice and good to her ! I think the author just favored the design of the actor dude and picked him because honeslty the childhood friend was so much better, attentive and kind. Both guys are great but she rly was a crappy girlfriend , didn't even know his birthday after all this time and I dont like the childhood friend assistant either even if she liked him deleting the message and not saying anything and buttin in the breakup is just shitty , I hope the childhood friend finds someone better
