Akudama
I find both storylines to be pleasant but they lack the structural elements needed for such stories to be not forgettable. The first storyline in which a man cajoles a high school kid into an awkward relationship under the pretense of threatening is interesting but lacks character development which could have elevated the rhythm of the storyline.
The second story was charming and innovative by intermeshing the storyline of the actors with the storyline of the movie they are involved with. I found the development interesting as it lacks that obvious happy ending but it might lead to something big between the two.
Body Guard (Kimiyoshi)
A teenager stumbled on an unexpected fortune; his father marrying a Hollywood megastar. Very shallow with no coherent storyline. The scale of the drawing is way off, the mangaka should have collaborated with an artist, but even that wouldn't save this manga
Retsujou
Mediocre and forgettable. Don't expect anything that is deep as the storylines are superficial.
Sleeping Man Loving Man
I enjoy's Zaria's approach to his stories. There is comic elements and a sophisticated dramatic/dark details to create a worthy read
Blood Bank
An abnormal vampire and an abnormal human interplay in a metropolitan world where the strong dominates. A wonderful ride with a bitter-sweet ending! A manifestation of a Gibil-based manga
1/2 Cigarette
Can someone substitute his brother? This manga explores this theme intriguingly in the first 2 chapters, but expect the usual Yaoi RomCome cliches. Although I was detecting some form of emotional attachment between the 2 main characters, I noticed that this fine thread was completely lost by the time we are reading the final chapter.
Koishirazu: You Don't Know What Love Is
A very depressing parody of 2 musicians. I hated the vulgarity of one of the characters who I understand to represent a type of musicians who are vulgar, crude, and inappropriate. Raping someone because you want to own that person is pathetic and disturbing. The worse part of the story is that no character is being punished.
Sore Wa Tabun Itoshii Tte Koto
Self-doubt is a tricky barrier for individuals to move forwards; some are motivated while others are hindered by it. Our two protagonists have different approaches to their inner struggles, but surprisingly they found common ground in which they felt at ease to disclose their inner feelings. This is not a complicated or complex story. It is simple and quite straight forward with light anguish over these inner feelings.
Koori Ga Tokeru No O Matteru
First one-shot; A high school student is dared to stand in a well-known corner; he encounters an intriguing office worker, and their meetings continue. The story lacks depth and is forgettable.
Second one-shot; 2 men accidently meet at a train station; their shattered dreams provide an exciting opportunity for a day to heal. The best story out of the three one-shots in this volume
Third one-shot: A spirit occupies a university student house and heart. An unoriginal story, but I appreciate the manager discretion to make it a short story.
