This story is SO cute (^○^)
Kakeru and Yamato are so adorable together and Yamato is definitely a perv under all that nonchalance and indifference and definitely a perv for Kakeru loll. This story is so adorbs and great for ppl with sweet tooths when comes to sappiness! ALSO Yamato is such a yearner, I LOVE YEANERS.

I see a lot of comments talking about how they hate Fujiwara cuz shes a bitch or they just hate that she’s “trying to get between Kakeru and Yamato” or how they hate the author for continuing the angst instead of more romantic content or how they dislike either the author or Fujiwara for the misogyny of making the new character a women.

To be honest it doesn’t seem that surprising for the story to take this route, I get how it seems very misogynistic to insert Fujiwara as an “obstacle” but throughout this entire story we’ve had women characters who’ve not only been supporting characters but also likeable-ish (I’m talking about Yamato’s sister Mikato cuz something was definitely weird about her lowkenuienly). It’s not as if Fujiwara is our first and only female presence and she’s a complete psycho whose dead set on planning inhumane shit to get Yamato and Kakeru to break up (at least not yet, I’ll take everything back if she does in the later chapters (^◇^;)) so I don’t get why people seem to think she’s such a one demential bitch or why people are calling the author misogynistic when we’ve only had a couple panels with her in it in the three or four chapters we’ve known abt her.

Fujiwara, from what we’ve seen so far, is pretty much still a mystery. She’s definitely a bitch to Kakeru and obviously she isn’t meant to be a positive presence on Kakeru and Yamato’s journey nor the overall story so far but I think she’s not inserted for some love triangle situation.

Throughout the story since the very first chapter Kakeru has had lots of insecurities and anxieties about his appearance, intellect, personality, achievements, everything. Fujino points it out plainly. Then we get reminders of it again and again that Kakeru is insecure being with Yamato, he doesn’t think he deserves the spot he has next to Yamato and it’s caused problems throughout their entire getting together journey already.

Fujiwara isn’t meant to serve as a misogynistic example of how horrible women are and how evil and cruel or manipulative they can be or how they’re a bitch. She needs to be a woman for her character to work. She’s meant to serve as what society thinks is acceptable for a person like Yamato. Fujiwara is smart, she’s skilled, she’s beautiful and has a great personality (socially), she’s very accomplished and is a woman, someone “worthy” of being with Yamato and just like how Fujiwara is worthy, Yamato is the only one “worthy” enough to be with Fujiwara. Her character is meant to be the perfect socially acceptable person that people see as Yamato’s partner and Kakeru is the complete opposite. It’s stated again and again, they are opposites, how are they even friends? Yamato is perfect Kakeru is not.

She’s an obstacle so Kakeru can overcome his insecurities by forming his own base of confidence in his relationship with Yamato or by overcoming society’s judgments on his worthiness to even be near Yamato. The story has given us hints that, while the people Kakeru and Yamato are friends with are open minded and fine with their relationship, their society they live in doesn’t see it as a norm nor something entirely normal or common yet which makes them hesitant about being open with their relationship.

Fujiwara needs to be a woman because that’s what’s expected, “Obviously Yamato will be with an amazing GIRL like Fujiwara”. Her being a woman matters to the entire plot of Volume 9, not just for some stupid love triangle bullshit. If it were a male character instead of a woman, Yamato and said hypothetical male antagonist would just be fetishized by the people in their school for being males, it wouldn’t confront Kakeru’s true turmoil as a character. And besides she doesn’t seem romantically interested in Yamato, moreso his status/popularity/intellect and stuff.

I’m kinda hoping she ends up with some crazy complex story where the only reason she’s picking Yamato is cuz he’s her “equal” so she can use him to gain something bigger or secure her status and not just because she wants to be petty about her crush. Her saying “He’s truly the only one worthy.” Or something like that doesn’t really seem like she likes him but rather his reputation and overall image. That he’s genuinely a good person but is also “superior” in everyway.

Anyway about the sister, OMG that’s what we really need to focus on (°▽°). I think the author is definitely a lil freaked on Twitter or sumthing because they keep framing it as though Mikato loves her brother a little romantically. Obviously it can be seen as her also having a crush on Kakeru but she doesn’t acknowledge it because she knows her brother likes Kakeru but NO IT REALLY DOESNT.

The hairtie, the gossiping, that pancake scene, her inner monologues about lovers and the entire topic about dating and stuff. Like you srsly can’t tell me after those few chapters about Mikato that she doesn’t like Yamato romantically? I could literally go through and mark at least more than 5 moments where she’s been a little weird about Yamato. Like they bring up the topic of how “even tho so and so liked this person first, someone else got to them.” and then shes like “yeah exactly my situation” and then she CONTINUES TO THINK ABOUT HER BROTHER . I think it’s kinda gross to be teasing this brocon situation even if it ends up being revealed she liked Kakeru, it doesn’t change the fact the author was absolutely trying to tease and hint at Mikato liking her brother. The entire hairtie situation wasn’t even cute to me because after all we’ve seen it just seems so weird for her to be happy he got her a cute gift and for her to react like that. I think it’s even weirder because she has no reason to be like that towards Yamato. They weren’t overly close growing up, their parents are both still alive and well (the dad is better now so it counts :P), they had loving parents. The dynamic just doesn’t work.

Also that pancake scene completely confirmed to me that the author is trying to hint at Mikato liking Yamato romantically at least a little. So weird for the story to have that moment, like it was completely unnecessary to their relationship as siblings. There was never a conflict where people misunderstood their relationship before or anything that hindered their ability to BE siblings.

Anyway awesome story, hope it doesn’t take a year to finish Volume 9

    SUPER SPOILER

someone dropped the japanese spoilers for chapter ten and she seems to be in support of Kakeru and Yamato. Also thanks to Daren in comments for supporting her case. Hopefully when we get the english translations we can understand her better.

The “Pair” system in this works as a complete slave contract/ownership type structure. Meaning alphas can have free reign and omegas will be left in ruin if abandoned by their pair. It completely fucks up their life. It’s one thing to have morally wrong characters who do morally wrong things and don’t get punished (which is what we want in yandere esque stories) but it’s another for the story itself to support those beliefs and romanticize it by never bringing up the injustice of the morally wrong actions/rules. Just gross.

Chapter 1 and 6 clearly telling us ML is casually permanently fucking up and ruining the lives of all the omega ex’s of MC and that was fine, this is supposed to be a yandere esque story. But it’s just so disgusting how chapter 6 shows that poor girl crying because she’s permanently “broken” all because little dick douche bag ML wanted to be a petty ho and he outright says he’s done that too all of MC’s omega ex’s and then the story proceeds to imply they were all women. It feels so derogatory. Maybe I’m nitpicking but I’m really not. It’s blatant misogyny that wasn’t needed. It was so subtle because it’s so normalized, a woman didn’t need to be demonized, degraded, or abused for this story to be told or made.

    Neena May 21, 2026 6:57 am

no cause you’re completely right. it was wholly unnecessary and doesnt make any difference. this is just straight up misogyny and romanticization of abuse with the veil of “yandere ml”.

You Fucking Bitch May 17, 2026 8:26 am

I feel like for the first one, he’s more of the “would have 100% become a yandere” if she didn’t love him so unconditionally like she did. Also crazy random crash out from the sis.

I thought that the Elios we see shaking hands with Yohan in the last chapter was just Emma with Elios alter but now with Elios being a rather friendly and amicable guy showcasing that Emma’s trauma and mental state are slowly healing. Why is everyone saying he’s actually alive?

They even reconfirmed that Elios is completely absolutely dead dead as confirmed by the mother and his grave stone and Yohans confirmation that it was real in the beginning of the chapter. Guys theres no hope that this dud is alive

    mori May 24, 2026 12:31 am

i think the gravestone belongs to elios' deceased father and elios is actually alive

You Fucking Bitch May 24, 2026 8:38 am

yeah im js gonna accept that cuz this is confusing me

I’m too obsessed with the twin one now (´༎ρ༎`)

To clarify how I see this story, I’m assuming Noizu and Chris in the beginning are friends, Noizu obviously having a crush on Chris. Then Rizeru is introduced. Noizu and Rizeru have very different spots in the hierarchy. Chris says he sees Noizu for who he is making Noizu think he matters. Noizu see’s Chirs and Rizeru kissing, Noizu impersonates Rizeru and does his duties as President of the student council perfectly. Rizeru confronts Noizu and they both fall out the window. Noizu wakes up looking like Rizeru and when (real) Rizeru is being buried Noizu walks away with Chris in triumph.

I’m so conflicted with Noizu, I wish he stayed swimming in his inferiority complex instead of just killing off his brother. Honestly it’s a shame, saw someone trashing on Noizu but obviously he did Rizeru’s (forgot his name ) job as council president perfectly. It’s clear the only reason they're treated different is because of their clear contrast in personality. Sure, Rizeru deserves the praise he gets if he truly put in the effort to fuel his ambition but it’s clear they trash on Noizu for absolutely no reason just to compare them.

Absolute fuck Chris, would love to see him get absolutely ruined in life. I’m so hung up on the situation with Chris specifically, he seems earnest and kind but his deception was a nasty betrayal that ruins his image for me completely. If he didn’t have feelings for Noizu and was already dating Rizeru, he didn’t need to go out of his way to deliberately make Noizu felt seen by him or make him think Chris saw him as something special. Noizu’s treatment is completely just unfair, Chris leading him on doesn’t help either. I’m definitely on Noizu’s side up until the identity theft. Rizeru knows how his brother is being treated and seems to even almost dislike his brother. Maybe Noizu is just meant to be a lazier and less likable person in the setting of their world but that feeling of injustice just keeps growing with everything stacked up. I was so onboard for the angst of Noizu trying to end it but when he switched identities it just became pathetic for me.

Noizu switching identities felt like such a waste of potential for the story. Having him manipulate Chris into feeling the same as he does for Rizeru or even impersonating Rizeru to do something with Chris and then blackmailing Chris would have been better and less pathetic than fully taking Rizeru’s identity.

That whole ending just felt like such a loser win, “Haha I win cause I threw away my entire self/self worth because I have no confidence I could ever change how people view me or ever successfully get with Chris without taking the identity of the person he loves.” It feels so so very pathetic. How I wish Noizu was a truly deranged and psychotic person who would plan out a lovely and detailed plan to steal everything from Rizeru and ruin his life (in the context of this very fictional and very not realistic story I don’t genuinely support things like that I just really like the angst of it all.) instead of taking such an easy way to get to such a lackluster position.

I mean, perhaps for Noizu that’s fulfilling, taking over someone else’s life completely, the life of someone who had everything he wanted and living with the achievements they have, the lover he wanted, the praise and attention he wanted. I can see the perspective that Noizu taking over Rizeru’s life and identity IS the ultimate win since Rizeru isn’t there to compete anymore, Noizu has all the prizes in the end, I just can’t shake that feeling of disappointment and dissatisfaction at the ending turn. It would have been so much better with a different build up, different circumstances but same dilemma. Shame, shame, shame that Noizu is content being a loser who isn’t even successful as HIMSELF, he’s only successful as his brother.

Isn’t the Dom just showing false exasperation? Seems like he accepted it but questions the irony of his past refusals to accept the dom/sub dynamic. Is what I even said right idk man

Personally I think it’s super cute :D
The miscommunication is deep rooted so its not as infuriating as most miscommunication tropes where its all very surface level things, this couple’s miscommunication is based on their entirely different views on love, what it means to be loved, how to love, and how they show it.

The story does make it feel like separated instances of events but not in a super unconventional way, the story gets across just fine.

ALOS LOVE THE METAPHORS (i think thats what im thinking it is.) It feels like it has more depth (even if there isnt) just by using metaphors to show and tell you how each character views their relationship with another. The ENTIRE ordeal with the dolphin’s ear-bone, Takara’s claim over said dolphin’s ear-bone and “What if i was a mermaid” are super cute

And to defend poor Takara, he’s just as desperate for his grounding support in his life to stay, Asami seeks validation for his usefulness and worth and Takara seeks being treated like he means something to someone, they’re both cut from the same cloth and took different approaches to how they expressed that loneliness. I don’t see Takara’s advance to be sexual or romantic in anyway, Asami even points out that he knows Takara holds no desire towards him. Takara is resorting to any last option to get Asami to stay, undoubtedly Takara is possessive over Asami but it’s not something so irreparably damaging to their relationship as a found family. He’s pulling the “use me for your pleasure so you’ll choose/stay with me”, since pleasure is a reliable thing you can get from someone else, like FWB’s. He’s lonely, he knows that Asami is choosing Chiaki and he’s unwilling to let go but that doesn’t make him a shitty person, his way of showing desperation is just selfish compared to Asami’s selfless ways. JUSTICE FOR TAKARA

ALSO Chiaki is so so sweet, the unreliable narrative on Asami’s part of Chiaki’s lack of desire, which is completely one-sided because we clearly see constant affirmations that Chiaki is absolutely in love with sweet Asami, is actually kinda nice rather than annoying. It really does make it seem like Chiaki does not care for him but without Asami’s narrative and interpretation of Chiaki’s words and actions, it’s so clear how much he really does care for him. Usually stories try having that “unreliable narrator” thing except the words themselves aren’t twisted but simply said in a horribly worded way by a character which gives no indication that said character truly does feel any differently, it just FORCES the audience to believe that the “unreliable narrator” is right in what they’re thinking. WITH CHIAKI IT’S DIFFERENT. His words are what they are, without Asami’s assumptions and his own interpretation of what he means, Chiaki’s words by themselves show how he really feels.

I’m not saying this is Peak of Peak but it’s a good story. 100% you aren’t wasting time on this story, it just probably won’t be the BEST thing you’ve ever read or ever will read. (๑╹ω╹๑ )
