Seriously, when Yuri said that, “first love” wasn’t the kind of first love we usually think of. It was something much purer. There wasn’t even the slightest hint of lust when Yuri said it, unlike that predator. Please don’t compare Yuri’s character to how people would think in the real world. He genuinely only exists within the story, and a character like him simply isn’t written that way. In real life, someone Yuri’s age would obviously have very different boundaries and concerns, but Yuri isn’t written like that. He’s genuinely one of the most beautiful characters Yuuji-nim has ever written.

Huh? The author literally gave us a character who can admire someone’s beauty without any desire to possess them or any lust, and yet... some people still can’t understand how beautiful Yuri’s character is. It’s honestly such a shame.

But loving a child in any other way other than platonic is WEIRD. If someone said they liked a teenager and they themselves were in their 20’s it would be weird. Don’t make excuses cause you like yuri, I do to but I’m mature enough to know he’s weird for that.

If you had a cat who you loved very much and saw them in the sunlight and thought oh so beautiful that’s the prettiest cat and I love the way the sun shines off them and you just appreciate how pretty your cat is no one is going to accuse you of loving the cat romantically or sexually. The love that Yuri sees isn’t romantic nor is it necessary platonic either. It’s like falling in love with a piece of art, it’s so beautiful that it moves you. The way people nowadays describe love and attraction is so muddy, that’s why you think this way. Love is an extremely abstract concept that doesn’t have the same meaning for everyone, and this is the author’s interpretation through Yuri’s character. Besides, even after meeting Xinlu again, Yuri wasn’t even considering him as a romantic partner AT ALL, that is until adult Xinlu presented himself as a candidate.
