i can't wait to see how moeum reacts to taehyuk next chapter (▰˘◡˘▰) honestly i'm kinda glad he's confessed this early, totally saves us like 100 chapters of cliché miscommunication arcs and subtle hints BUT i wonder if moeum will accept his confession at face value or if she'll deny it?? i can see her getting really flustered and denying his feelings only cause he said it totally out of the blue yaknow? deep down though, i think moeum has some feelings for him too that she'll have to figure out now hehe
ever since i started reading this manhwa, i couldn't put my finger on what specifically made it feel so comforting but i've just realized the comfort i'm feeling is from seeing yuwon accept dohun... dohun was a weird kid, but i think deep down he was as pure as any other child after seeing how attached he was to that little storybook. i love that yuwon was able to open dohun's eyes with his perspective of love and family, that's the kind of sentiment that'd provide relief even to readers experiencing similar traumas and help them feel seen/understood
+ i'm on the spectrum so i heavily relate to dohun's social ineptness as well as his obsessive behaviors, not for reasons as terrible as his (fortunately) but for being bullied in middle school and having a bad family upbringing in my highschool years, i find myself relating to both dohun and yuwon in my own respective ways. plus, i always felt like these weirder depictions of relationships in manhwa are sometimes better at expressing the complexities of love and emotional attachments than anything i've experienced in real life. some people are just so dishonest and indirect that their "realness" seems more fake than that of a fictional character ヽ(`Д´)ノ
i love this manga so much [sob] the amount of trust eugene has for mogari especially believing that he'll find a way back to kamakura is so wholesome........ and i love how much kanzaki values phanbas like he wants to be together with them in everything and pushes himself to learn new skills GAHHH and the way tamon reassured him in ch26 oh my goodness i'm just so happy i could cry............................ these dang goobers.....
guys soohwa has been hinted at since s1, stop hating on suae and be patient with the author the spinoff theory is evidently active, just reread otl if you're unsure and you'll see that all the signs have been there since the start
for probably a decade now, suae had been writing her spinoff webnovel "becoming the black rose of versailles" based off the formerly popular series "black rose of versailles", where in her spinoff novel, she writes a new ending that cindy (female lead, main character) ends up with grey instead of edward! using this as an analogy for the plot of OTL, you can see eunhyuk resembling edward as the original ending of "black rose of versailles" depicts edward and cindy falling in love, and then you can see dohwa as grey because he was the second male lead. continuing the analogy and suae's spinoff novel, you oughta keep in mind that she chose to write a different ending for the novel because she preferred grey and thought he deserved better. a popular debate in the OTL fandom regards which male lead represents grey, but if you read the chapters where suae and dohwa discuss the novel series and the webnovel she writes (ex, ch98, ch100) you'll see its dohwa who resembles grey the most. he's already the second male lead as is, and now in s2, dohwa has finally been given a chance.
personally, i think people forget that one of OTL's genres is supernatural (haru is proof) but again, it's important that you understand the title of suae's spinoff novel and the fact that she wrote it as "BECOMING the black rose of versailles" the uppercase text indicating that the novel comes to life (presumably)
