I started reading this manga after seeing it’s getting an anime next year. The first two chapters set up the story well: the witch survives a hunt, and the mercenary is hired to protect her and help her find a peaceful place. They travel to another continent, and that’s where it gets… a bit more typical.
Adventurer parties, guilds, demon beasts—it feels like a standard fantasy setup. What confused me is that the witch seems oddly knowledgeable about this new land and all its dangers, even though she comes from a continent without magic. I get that she’s 200 years old, but it still felt strange.
So far, it hasn’t hit the dark fantasy tone I expected, but there are hints it might get more interesting later. I’m curious to see where it goes.
And if magic is normal here, why are they still hiding the fact that she’s a witch? She literally uses magic and even registered as a mage at the guild.
It also makes me wonder—are witches really that rare, or is she the only one left? Right now it feels a bit inconsistent, but like I said I'm still curious to see where the story goes.
If I remember correctly, the knowledge comes from books and guild manuals and tips (they do teach the newbies to an extent).
As for hiding her as a witch, i think it's because they can't predict how they'll react, and Zig doesn't want to risk it
They don't know yet if there are other witches on that continent and what the general opinion is of them. We don't know if the new continent people is the type to condem such overwhelming power and near immortal beings (coz people do tend to fear that which is abnormal).
Wow, I remember when I started it with anime I was so drown to it I just couldn't let it end on just that. So after the anime I had to read manga no matter what, and really don't when this all time has passed. This story is just Perfect from the begining till the end. The only wish I have is to see this gets anime again.

Was that Shiryu in the last panel
I think so!
But how?
He's probably an Imu agente but there's that bird gorosei there too
Yea
Now that begs the question did imu plant a spy in blackbeards crew?
Ohhhh.... it is possible. Since he is Rocks son. That’s possible. But you know, Shanks is kinda suspicious too.
Shit you right but would shanks rlly use someone with shiryuu’s reputation?
