It does not get better. ML continued to be an asshole, though he becomes less physically abusive. The bitch who loved him continues to be a major issue. Even when the plot is revealed, MC is the only lne who bears the brunt of it. Even the childhood friend that she was worried about turned out to be a major bitch and she actually was the one who sold her out and revealed her identity

Also I don't really understand Jae hee game here. What is in it for him at this point? He obviously doesn't like Minyoung, but his actions hasn't had good outcomes for cheol. I mean his actions resulting in Cheol getting jumped at school and constantly harassed by almond eyes. Giving his brother evidence of his relationship, and not to mention I think he was the one who gave Cheol the tip about Minyoung at his house. Maybe he thought inserting himself personally into his life was bad after this point?
I think he got him jumped on purpose, with the intention of playing savior to win Cheols affection.
He was saved by Cheol and fell for him so I think. He wanted to save Cheol and have him fall for him.

When rereading the story, I always thought that rubellian looked more like the previous duke. Looking at the other princes there isnt much resemblance between them and rubellian. I mean we never saw the dukes face so maybe I'm just coping
Rubellian looks like his mother. Unfortunately, the timeline from when the Duke went to war and her pregnancy just doesnt match. Ml has to be the emperor's son
At first I really liked the uncle, who appeared almost like a respite for Cheol. The more chapters pass though, the more I questioning why he didn't do anything earlier.
Like not only did Cheol said to his face, he wished he was his real dad the uncle knew basically off rip that he was getting abused.
So no calling protective services? Not taking him in? Just checking in on him every once and a while? Even in the flashback where Cheol says that he was afraid that he would be killed, he still didn't step up.
Not to mention the whole "you can only love those who are blood related" what about his whole wife? (who I assume is dead because she isn't really mentioned.) it doesn't feel like he carried a lot of love for her. I mean when cheol asked him about love being from someone unrelated, he didn't mention his wife. At all.
Im not saying I dislike his character. Honestly I like their interactions Everytime they show up together. It's just sad to me that Cheols supposed father figure didn't do everything he could when he was getting abused.
My guess is that the uncle didn't do anything because the grandfather wouldn't allow it, most likely to keep the family from being publicly shamed. I am certain that the issues between Cheol's father and his uncle were caused by the grandfather. It's probably going to turn out that the uncle didn't want to disobey the grandfather.
It's still really horrible and makes you feel worse for Cheol because even the people who did love him did not treat him well.
Maybe it's because of all the villainess stories I have read, but I really hope for a redemption for Melina. She has potential to shake things up in interesting ways. Maybe she still can but my hope did die a bit at the two year punishment.
Tbh this was the best ending for her, because she'll be so far away from the crown prince. What Melina needs is time to grow and learn, she was used indiscriminately and then discarded so this time for herself'll be painful but liberating.
Yeah I'm going to have to leave this to marinate. At this rate all the misunderstanding will make me lose my mind...
