That's the bad side of queer-baiting. The author wanted fangirls, so they wrote a fun ship that had a lot of flirting but didn't reach physical levels, and when the novel got popular and got enough attention suddenly those scenes were too much for the readers who can't handle two men together.

i don’t think it’s queerbaiting… the novel is the romance but their relationship is beautiful weather you see it as romantic or platonic. raising a child that they converted together is already not you cishetero dynamic. there isn’t just two ways of things…

why would it be bad either way they literally both have been acknowledged as the parent and both their personalities affect sung han gyeol, and they both pull their weight in taking care of him… a novel doesn’t need to have romance to be queer, there are other themes as well. let’s start with how most s class people are basically agender, and how yoojin is written with an unapologetically maternal and nurturer archetype which is usually reserved for female characters. s classes that i raised would be a joy to analyse through a feminist and queer lens. queerbaiting is hibike euphonium or vanitas no carte, not this at all.

Yeah it also irks me a little when people throw around the word queerbait because it influences other readers esp since there’s SO much more to hyunjae/yoojins dynamic that we haven’t even like touched upon. And the manhwa omitting certain lines doesn’t necessarily make the whole story queerbait, it just makes an inaccurate/ineffective adaptation. It’s like calling the Mo Dao Zu Shi donghua adaptation queerbait lmao.

Just realised queerbait is such a strong but simple word to describe deep, meaningful relationships. There's this manwha which stated it was shounen-ai for 2 weeks and suddenly changed to action. It didn't change their relationship from gay to ungay-it's up to us to interpret it. If I remember correctly it's about this old guy who's a vampire and sucks this guy's neck seductively..pretty homosexual to me
