I actually like this. He got his memory back gradually but was so stubborn to realize not only how he felt but they were back.
Kinda like not realizing you walked to the kitchen.
There is no real "boom" suddenly moment. It's more of a slow thing that even he didn't realize he got to the point he remembered everything.
He actually has to go back and realize he knew the answer.
He was stuck in the "nuh uh" stage with his eyes closed until he has to take a look in the mirror and the sudden realization hit him

I don’t remember which chapter, probably in the first three, you see a panel of a very young, child Ban sitting on adult Ray’s leg , which means Ray was an adult when he met Ban and kind of raised him I guess?? Either way creepy to fuck someone you knew when they were a child and also predatory. Also Ban is clearly hypersexual, and really attached to Ray which point to grooming.

Which leads me to the other aspect. I highly suspect he was also being sexually abused by his older brother. The line after being rejected from trying to kiss his hyung was "but I can do that with 'abuser' ".
To me thos heavily implies that some weird stiff was going on with tje older brother.
This can also explain why he has such a unhealthy tweeted desire to be a couple with his hyung.
If he was in fact sexually abused and was groomed by his brother, it would make sense that his only scope of "love" is violent. Depending on how he was groomed, as a child he would like to be like his parents. (Expecully is "we are like mommy and daddy" was used to groom him sexually. Thisnis what love is etc.)
Seeing as his older brother is a demon. His hyung is someone who he loves for saving him. Love = mommy and daddy.
his kid brain works in simple get strong patterns. He never grew out of it. He never healed. Most likely due to what went on after the fire. He wasn't taken care of properly.
