Apparently their omega dad has a very limited sense of taste and smell and as a kid Grayson was like 'whaaaaat..is that true?!' and tested it by putting cleaner in a cake he made for their omega dad, who truly could not taste or smell that it had that stuff in it and ate it. A charitable take is that it was a child who didn't know how poison cleaning stuff could be, but their Alpha dad freaked out because none of the alpha kids acted like they cared even after their omega dad collapsed.
