Seth has to be one of my favorite characters. His fear of the main couple and love of roasted potatoes is so funny. I'll also never get tired of how the both the MC's imaginations are more explicit than their actual smut scenes lol. But I like a slow burn, and all that time that would have been spend on smut scene's is focused on the two MC's relationship so that's also a plus for me. I also like a story where the MC doesn't suffer a lot. If there's angst in a story, I'll put it on hold so I can skip through whatever parts when I come back.
I don't mind all the "blue balling" since the characters reactions and misunderstandings of the MC's is super hilarious instead. Seth and Ruker accepting that Ennid and Glunn are doing it in his room was so funny. He didn't even want to confront them, just left. And Jorgel's attempts to help the couple out despite his naivety is endearing. Like the bed could vibrate lol. He kind of reminds me of first season Eren Jaeger I guess? I also remember his name by thinking of gerbals.. And I looked up peerage ranking to understand what the hell a viscount is. I guess it's rank 4 of the 5 nobility that's tied to the government. I'm still confused about it really. I appreciate how the story doesn't rely on a lot of tropes you see in many other BL. To me Ennid is pretty unique as an MC, he's not written to be a pathetic and naive pure hearted MC that suffers at the hands of other characters endlessly only to turn around and stand up for said characters when one person offers to punish those people who've made him suffer(it's harsh but I really can't handle those stories hahaha). I personally don't like dark fantasy or toxic stories, but if you do and can handle it than more power to you! I get people can have their own tastes, and reasons for reading those stories. So, not trying to put down anyone else by saying all that. All my own personal taste. It's nice how internalized homophobia is handled in this story, and super sweet how Glunn helps Ennid overcome it consensually through the course of the story. I very like how he doesn't force himself on Ennid. Or use his bodies physical reaction to coerce him to accepting the possibility that he could like men. Or in some stories cases where the straight character becomes gay for only the ML after one dubcon or rape scene worse case scene. Like the character can also just be a bisexual man with a preference for women. He doesn't have to get ED just cause he got dicked down once and can now only have sex with the ML hahah. I guess I miss seeing characters come to terms with their sexuality sometimes. Even if they also at times live in a fantasy world where almost every character is gay lol. Anyway, excuse my rant. Maybe it's just me but this is clearly the last season? It just feels like the pacing of the story accelerated at chapter 90 onwards. It feels at times like the creators are running out of chapters to properly adapt the novel, since I didn't feel that for most of the story. Like I swear a few chapters prior Ennid was teasing Glunn to see if he really had feelings for him, than the next moment they skip dating and move straight to getting married. Although, it was pretty satisfying seeing Glunn humiliate Varabus by having the king give his blessing than exposing his secret in front of all the nobility. Also Ennid is such a badass and scary MC lol. Glunn was so afraid of him after the fortune teller said he'd shrink his dick to pinky size hahaha. Like he's so quick witted and cool, I see why Glunn would fall for him twice. Anyway anyway, I realize I complained a lot but I actually think this story is super well written. It's not that I think this story has a lot of problems, I just like it so much that it's fun to over analyze everything. Again I don't mind the lack of smut for a great plotline and character development/relationships. tmi I like took notes just to keep up with all that was going on though, but that was really worth it. I have many more thoughts but this is getting to be too long and convoluted. I can't wait to see how Glunn and Ennid solve Glunn's constitution and the power struggle inside the empire. Pretty curious how the new villain characters looks too. I wonder how he'll be connected to Glunn?
But it's still being updated and, I'm gonna make a guess, but I'm assuming the comic is more ahead in terms of progress. Also, not idea what the translation quality is like. Not to mention, it's Korean and finding pirated versions of the book (to translate yourself) can be a hit or miss.
Right! Normally the super talented artists/authors will work mainly on dark fiction. At least that's how it feels most times. Or when the art is especially beautifully done, the story ends up being pretty messed up lol. So this manhwa is really nice.
