I get he has to be for uke to like him back but its just so off-putting the way hes going about it. Maybe it might just be my biase towards that kind of behaviour?

From my understanding, uke will live on because the granny tied his life to the seme's to extend his lifespan. However there is a limit to how long the uke’s lifespan can be extended due to all the damage his soul has suffered and since the uke and seme now have their lives tied to one another, the seme will die whenever the uke does.
