What I understand is that the only thing preventing Ian from ending with TJ is the gangster stuff. TJ can't (or don't want to because he's convinced he belongs to this life) leave this life but can't let Ian go either. Ian would like to start another life with TJ, but since it is not possible at the moment, he sees something in Joseph that TJ can't give him. I don't think Ian loves Jo (although Jo is obviously important to him !) : I think Ian loves what Jo can give him (starting a new life), that TJ can't. If TJ could give him that, ofc it's my opinion, but I definitely think there would be no question : he would choose TJ.
That doesn't change the fact that Ian's (probably) deeply attached to Jo. And I really think Jo is amazing, I won't way he's boring as others said in the comment section. He's sincere and lovely. But if Ian is honest with himself, he can only either end up with TJ or end up alone. I feel like Jo would only be a second choice, to replace what he couldn’t have with TJ.
That's why I really hope TJ will be endgame, because even if it's "toxic" or not "sane" (and I hear that), this would be the truest conclusion to Ian's feelings.
While I understand why you’d come to that conclusion, I don’t see it that way. I don’t think they can't be together just because of the gang stuff (although it does play a big part). We’ve seen their story unfold over the years, and they’ve both made mistakes in their relationship, some that can’t be taken back (especially TJ’s).
I do think they’re important to each other, but I wouldn’t call it love. You wouldn’t do the things TJ does to Ian to someone you love. They do have feelings for each other, but love is more than just feeling, it’s also action. And time and time again, they’ve failed to act out of love and do what’s best for the other (well, mostly TJ; the only thing I can say for Ian is that he hasn’t let TJ face the consequences of his actions). Their relationship has always been codependent, and since they only had each other for so long, it’s hard for them to let go.
On the other hand, I agree that Ian doesn’t love Jo either. He cares for him and he’s important to him but it’s not love, at least not yet. Of course, that has a lot to do with the fact that they haven’t known each other for long, plus Ian still has his walls up and doesn’t feel like he deserves happiness or “normal.” He also hasn’t fully let go of TJ. Still, I do see a chance there if Ian allows himself to.
I don’t think it’s fair to compare the two relationships, they’re entirely different. Ian has twenty years of history with TJ, so of course it carries more weight than his relationship with Jo, whom he’s only known for a few months. But that doesn’t make it the only or better option. It’s not just about how he feels, but also about what he deserves, and with Jo he could have both.
At the end of the day, there’s still a lot left of the story, and these characters and their relationships are supposed to grow and change. Who knows how things will develop, but I hope it’s for the best, both for the story and for the characters. Can't wait to see where it goes.
Wow, the art is top notch. The mastery of the proportions, the lighting, all the facial expressions is INSANE. This is seriously high level. What impressed me the most is definitely Todd's eyes. Very beautiful and disturbing at the same time : when the art makes you feel so much, you know it's gonna be a good one.
