Ok as the story progresses, I can see why the time skip was necessary (although 5 years is still a lot) because the character development and the maturity of the uke was great to witness and while he's telling lies they're white lies that don't hurt anyone. And it's great to know that the seme was cold to him not because he doesn't care about him anymore but because he didn't want to get hurt again by easily letting him in his life again (since he didn't know the full story yet). We also can see him slowly realizes that uke is still kind and he was also genuine with his feelings & didn't mean to hurt him. The best moment is when he tells himself that he wishes he resolved this sooner because he knew better than anyone how uke was extremely considerate of him despite his immaturity.
The plot is already stale and they won't even give us juicy smut. I'm a big fan of shounen AI/wholesome stories without smut but I feel like everything feels forced here. It doesn't give you this wholesome feeling despite it being supposed to be one. I just feel empty. There's nothing with the plot, it's just the way it was written and developed that failed to make an impact.
