I'm confused about what he means about the condom part (ML's thoughts). I know they had sex without a condom the first time, but if I remember correctly (which is unlikely because I can't distinguish between so many things I read), ML said something like he was using contraceptives.

im guessing they had medicine options to resolve the weird heat thing - but they're not a good option for either bc of side effects and it being in their files after so they need to have the semen in there (??? weird abo logic ig) to get the desired effect so mc is on contraceptive pills instead of using condoms
on that note i know with the ominous framing and all he is most likely getting pregnant, but i rly rly don't want that to be the case personally
I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the story gets worse with each chapter. The characters act like idiots—for example, why would you go ask the emperor (your enemy) what he said to your wife? Can you believe his answer? To top it all off, he tells him what he already knows instead of keeping it to himself and acting behind the scenes.
It started off interesting, but at this point I'd say I'd give it a 6 out of 10 at best
