Why I feel so sad for wonwoo ex? He is a kind person
So first world Seungwook was loyal till the end. He betrayed his people and even died for his first love Wonwoo(our mc) with desperate yearning.
Second world seungwook isn't. He's hypocrite.
He dated old wonwoo(the one who died) but he did not feel the spark when dating him and he chose someone else (the pink hair guy) coz he's sparkly, twinkly, and he's full of joy. Tch trash behaviour.
Now that our mc Wonwoo appears in place of old wonwoo, he starts to have feelings for him when dating that pink hair guy. Like broo don't give me that crap. He couldn't make old wonwoo feel special or didn't even bother helping him when he was alive because if he truly was a kind person, he would have made old wonwoo happy.
Hanse-nim is really brave to create this kind of story way different from RC. Anyway, I am still standing here until the end.
I also really like BA much more than RC. It is a completely different story tackling power dynamics and domination in a much more tense way. It's actually quite purposeful that Hanse-nim showcases that this is not "love". It is obsessions, possession, submission, punishment, all in one. People will disagree with me but to me there wasnt much chemistry in RC, they just fell in love at first sight and as children. But BA? HHAHAHA it is so interesting. They are not normal, and theyre going to tackle that head on.
I think it's kind of messy at this point, but the main context is still very interesting.
Possible spoiler below:
Rian saying that it's not "even sex" which you can have with a total stranger and no string attached, no emotion involved, is so real. What's happening between them is not romantic, sane or even consensual; so it's not sexy. It's twisted in a way that makes you want to see Enzo go fuck himself, but at the same time makes you wonder, how this fucking Pinocchio is gonna turn into a real boy.
And imagine if they were already in love and acting all soft with each other this early on. Knowing Rian's personality and with Enzo being a black flag, that would be hard to believe. Character development is needed for a relationship like theirs to feel natural. I think Hanse-nim chose to build it up gradually instead of forcing the romance too early, and that's what makes it more believable to me.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely love BA more than RC. And I agree that Bad Apple was never meant to be a vanilla romance. The premise itself promised something darker, more psychologically twisted, and that's exactly what drew me in.
My issue isn't that the relationship is messed up (it was toxic from the very beginning)ā it's that the story gradually started relying on tropes that are pretty common in BL rather than fully exploring the unique dynamic it initially set up.
What hooked me at first was the tension and clash between their personalities and circumstances. Rian was always my favorite character since Red Candy, and I genuinely enjoy the story more than RC overall (Season 1 especially). But as it went on, a lot of the conflict felt less like a natural extension of their obsession and power struggle and more like the usual "r*pey possessive ML + reluctant love interest" formula we see all the time.
So while I still like Bad Apple and think it had a stronger setup than RC, I don't think it's as groundbreaking or unconventional as it first seemed. For me, it started as something that could have been really distinct and ended up falling back on familiar BL conventions.
Yeah, totally. It's like Enzo doesn't even understand that the other person is a human being who has their own autonomy, so he's just taking them apart. The blushing bits were misleading only because his interest seemed somehow NORMAL, which is absolutely not. And even if he had normal feelings towards Rian, the latter wouldn't care for him, since he has a crush on Candy and sleeps with whoever he wants. Knowing that it wouldn't work between them if they had started differently, and how unique their personalities are as individuals, makes this very exciting. How on earth they're gonna be near each other without being so harmful?
I actually think the is the correct path for this. I can't say that she is relying on the trope, rather its just a byproduct. What she's setting up is the motive for Rian to fuck over Enzo HARD.
The other BL's I've read dont really have this setup. E.g. passion, Taeui mostly wants to escape. Anastasia, Mc also mostly just wants to escape after getting on the island. Jinx? Mc actually loves him from the start, just got hurt and sad and lifeless. Sadistic beauty? Just leave me alone. I dont think its the same at all.
Uno is capable. Im just waiting. A good setup takes time.
