Always happy to find other people that can't stand second couples lmao. When I start a story it's because I'm interested in the synopsis, which means I'M INTERESTED IN THE MAIN COUPLE, I don't need a second separate storyline with a completely different dynamic. Can't they just make a spin-off for the 2nd couple at the end of the main story? (a few authors already did it and it's the best option imo)
I dropped 19 days quite some time ago and I remember that being the main reason. There was almost zero development with the main couple compared to the 2nd couple (that I didn't even particularly like tbh). Another example is Here U Are: it's to this day one of my absolute favorites but waiting for the ongoing 'conflict' between the main couple to be resolved with like 3 side couples occupying all the new chapters wasn't fun
I recently re-read Here U Are and I literally skipped any sections that focused on developing the side couple's LIKE IM NOT HERE FOR YOUUUU especially the bar owner and the red hair guy, ugh, I dislike that one the most. The other with the main characters friend and the pink haired guy is not so bad (especially since being close friends to main character means he impacts the story a bit but the bar owner doesn't really) but I just don't care about them. It's like we're seeing more side couples than the main couple. Some do it well but man it's annoying when they don't
omg topsy turvy taking a lousy side character no one gaf about and giving him thrice the screen time and plot than the main couple
