"mond" means "moon" and "verfall" means "decay"
if you combine them to, they don't really make sense since a moon can't decay. it'd only make sense if there's a deeper meaning behind it. then you could combine it to "Verfall des Mondes" (=decay of the moon) or "Mondverfall" (=moon decay)

Hi, I’m trying to come up with a short place name for a fantasy setting with a horror theme. I want it to convey the idea of “the decay of the moon” (not literally). It’s fine if it’s not something used in everyday language, as long as it works. I know some languages that combine words in ways that aren’t commonly used for artistic effect, even my mother language, but I don't want it to sound weird either. So what would be a good way to express “the decay of the moon” in German? However preferably the shorter version, thank you :)

I can't think of anything shorter, but I think a good way to express it would be "der Verfall des Mondes"

In my opinion, "Mondverfall" sounds more like a description of a process than a place name... the shorter version "Mondfall" (moon-fall) or something like "Mondfäule" (moon-rot) sound better and the last one sounds scarier than the other two. With Mondfall, though, I'm not sure if it emphasizes the decay enough. Unfortunately, I'm really not very creative when it comes to things like that, sorry

Well I'm not sure if it's discontinued or not one of the comments said so , but it's likely if it comes back it will be with a different artstyle cause people said the artist has dropped the manhwa sadly , but the novel is really good! You should give it a try
