i already know i’m going to get booed for this but i’m going to say it anyway
i just finished reading this in one sitting and i feel like this author DEFINITELY has an incest kink idc what anyone says. argue with your mom not me!
i study mythology in uni so i’m super desensitized to incest and shit, like the incest going on here (aside from anubis and set/seth) is 100% accurate. but the creator just goes out of their way to remind us that they’re related to such a degree that i’m like 99.99% sure they have a thing for family on family stuff. even them making up anubis coming onto seth, like the creator very clearly just wants to see a father and son fuck
in mythology it’s just a known thing that they’re related but it’s never thrown in your face to such an obnoxious extent like it is here
So true, like if the author just thew it out there yup their family and shit, fine thats how actual mythology was, BUT THEN SHE CASUALLY REMINDS US ALL THE TIME oh right thats my son, uncle i love you, brother you know we cant do that, LIKE YOU DONT HAVE TO REMIND ME PLEASEEE

EXACTLY like do we really need to be reminded that they’re uncle and nephew while horus is sucking his dick?? author i promise we get it already
"it’s never thrown in your face to such an obnoxious extent like it is here" THANK YOU! Every time I calm down and forget that they're related it's uncle this and uncle that.
Nah, you're spot on. I mean, it would be easy imo to change it so they aren't related to each other (it only ever gets a passing mention in most tellings of the original myths), but the author straight up has him saying uncle over and over.

i agree w everyone but im confused with this one. how tf else is horus supposed to call seth when he holds seth in such high regards?

By his name? I'll admit I don't know what language the original comic is in, but there's no good equivalent in English speaking cultures. We typically only call someone uncle when they are biologically related. The other options are "mister," which sounds silly in this context, or "lord," which could work since Seth is a god, but doesn't make sense either. I honestly don't understand what you mean when you say Horus holds him in high regard, because I don't think he does. He clearly likes him a lot, but he doesn't actually respect his wishes.

idk if you realized but that's how many people around the world address each other, including korean which is this bl's original language. horus cannot call seth by his name because the familial hierarchy doesn't allow it, just like how i can't call my uncle by his name in my own language. even in english, calling your elders by their name is only allowed if the family dynamic is chill or if the older person allows it. if not then you just call your uncle by "uncle". horus cannot call seth by his name willy nilly unless seth allows it lmao.
and idk how you just forget that the recent chapters are just about horus idolizing seth for ages. him being pushy is bc 1) he presumably wants seth so bad that he can't help himself, and 2) the author thinks it's hot. doesn't mean he doesn't hold seth in high regards lmao

i feel like you’re just making excuses for the author to continue shoving her incest kink in our faces bc there are plenty of korean honorifics that would convey the level of respect horus has for seth, and there are plenty of titles in english that would work too. most of these titles would work better than “uncle” anyway lmao

no dude it's just literally horus calling seth as his actual honest to god uncle lmao. idc about the incest shit since it's fucking egyptian mythology, but i cannot think of a single title that will work other than uncle. if seth and horus are unrelated then "mr" can work, but shit like "sir" adds a layer of subservience that does not exist in their relationship. idk about korean, but i do know that -ssi means that horus is unfamiliar with seth and is on equal social standing with him, which is not true. there's no other word that can convey their social hierarchy, familial status, and horus's respect for seth but uncle.
i have my complaints for the author and the plot. there's definitely an issue with incest, but linguistic is not part of the problem lmao

how would linguistics not be a part of the problem if the words literally imply and tie into the greater issue of an obnoxious extent of incest… hello contradictions
the word uncle in the english language by definition means no more than your parent’s brother, so whatever you’re talking about how that word conveys “high regard” makes no sense in that context
you’re almost getting the point but then it just flies right past you lol

... huh? these characters have dialogue. they have to use these terms. horus has to call seth uncle because if he doesn't hold seth in high regards, he can just call seth by seth's name. that's the point. he doesn't call seth by anything else because uncle describes their relationship and dynamic most concisely, and because he respects seth even if seth committed war crimes and lost to him in the competition. and that's just... how language works? if you read any other korean bl, characters would say hyung or sunbae all the time. are they pushing their age difference into our face? no. that's just how the korean language works lmao. even if the author doesn't have an incest kink, horus would still say uncle in every other sentence because that's how the language works. i think you'd hate it if this is in vietnamese, since our pronouns don't have "you" or "i" and we have to refer to each other using our titles all the time. it's unavoidable. again, linguistic isn't the issue here.

soooo you’re literally creating a definition for uncle that doesn’t exist in english to suit your interpretation of the story and that’s where you’re getting lost
they also don’t have to use these words like you said because… *shocker* there are other words that can convey similar things without the incestuous connotation
