Brown? They are tanned. They stay under the sun a lot more doing hard labor. Even the ML is slightly tanned. I think the MC and a very few priests or concubines are fair skinned, mainly because they stay more indoor and always protected by palm/umbrella.

Its always the delicate fair skinned mc and the broodish tanner ml, even when the mc is tanned he's not seen as "feminine" and all the servants looking like they got dipped in the same same cup of coffee doesn't help. But they work under the sun?! It is melamine. It would have make no sense for them being fair skinned. And the MC is treated as a deity, always covered/sheltered... he is barely never exposed to the sun. It is biology 101.
lol I agree, in France being light skinned was seen as a beauty standard by nobless because it showed that you didnt work, unlike farmers who worked under the sun. I like su–ah and am rooting for this relationship but too often do i see criticism for juhyeok's actions and not enough for su–ah's, su–ah uses coercion to get closer to juhyeok and completely disregards juhyeoks feelings and even his dreams and ambitions, i understand how difficult it must be to feel used but juhyeok made it abundantly clear that he didn't like su–ah in that way in the beginning and in respondse, su–ah (unknowingly or not) made juhyeok rely on him and now is getting mad because juhyeok doesn't show him enough affection???? when has he ever?? u got what u wanted, he needs you regardless of pathetic it makes him feel and somehow thats not enough for you?? im just frustrated because if you truly love someone u want them to reach their dreams and goals and it's obvious that su–ah only cares about his own dream (being romantically involved with juhyeok) instead of supporting the person he loves. </3
