has the cop-monitoring-gangster romance plot turned into an anti-copaganda story (the opposite type of romance/character dev than usual in these types of stories) that's awesome? literally in the text the police are blamed for the dad murdering his family & this deadbeat son abusing his elderly parents, vigilantism obviously isn't great or anything but this means the characters/romantic development is interesting & not some cookie cutter story & they have arcs independent of the romance
a domestic violence scene as punishment after the red hair got raped…wtf is the author thinking whyyyy????? like red hair was by no means a good partner and was acting like an asshole when he went out & was irresponsible leading to the guy assaulting him but that could be dealt with in an actual way story and character dev wise, but blaming him for being raped after he was reckless and got drunk & then a domestic violence scene as corrective is legit a gut punch since i started reading thinking it would be a fairly cute story abt a fairly dysfunctional relationship, not rape/dv apologia!
just started reading (& i like fictional enemies to lovers so don't take this too seriously lol, honestly think i'll like the series a lot) but it's kind of crazy the whole setup is that the mc is being punished by his employer for reacting against clients who sexually assaulted him in violation of the agreed terms of service & that after again having a client who assaults him and then tricks him into an unfavorable contract (which was not what he had been led to believe were the terms from the employer who assigned him this client) which the contract is then treated as inviolable (in such a case since you have signed but were misled & there is no notarization yet, he literally could have destroyed the contract then and there, immediately revoking delivery & thus they have no relationship). not the most fucked up guideverse i've read, but the icky genre conventions of like blatant labor and often sexual exploitation are strong here lmao
tbh since hatano (if that’s his name?) has had so much presence & has been such a long arc in the story—like the only thing giving the manga a semblance of plot vs how episodic it used to be—that i can’t imagine him not eventually being the one lol. like even this probably raises more flags with him than it suppresses
wait does the second to last au episode mean that the whole series (including the final crossover episode) was a tv series in the real world in which the actors playing hojin and yoosung just fell in love (unless since they are in the crossover too there’s a mockumentary ending or whatever???? lolllll
really cute series, but my overwhelming hatred of the countryside makes me hate the ending lol
love how she thinks jinx isn’t a toxic bl lmao, there’s literally multiple crime elements, the premise is essentially prostitution, and the dynamics are toxic as hell. you did it ig!
idk i think we’re supposed to swallow a huge pill & assume that the mc is acting this way bc interacting with the ml’s pheromones has fucked him up until & unless they bond or some nonsense it’s not going to recover, but why does he keep forgetting his lifesaving medicine in the car, who does that???
