I'm so happy that so many of you are seeing Biyeon for what she really is, not an annoying girl (and neither are Flame or Aiselle, the only annoying one in my opinion is Jeliall the red-head elf girl, trust me in this) but the best girl.
And I know the story is kinda romance-bait (by spoilers of the ending that i think are true), but I cannot help but hope that Biyeon could end up with Yuseol... they have the best dynamic of them all...
Like, let's see the rest of possible romantic interest:
Flame: Love her, such a silly and funny girl, in a way it feels like she is the one that understands better Yuseol bc of their same "transmigration" status and Yuseol kinda feels closer to her bc of that. But she loses points with me bc 1. of her treatment with Yuseol the first chapters 2. Albeit really funny, she is the first to misunderstand ANYTHING, i mean she was the first one pushing to start pushing the agenda that Yuseol was in love with Aiselle bc he helped her but what's the logic behind that (like yeah girl, the one u think is a regressor is in love with this girl he helped twice, but he is also going around helping EVERYONE, that does not mean he wants to be in a poliamorous relationship with your whole school does it??) 3. SPOILERS AHEAD about the "they understand themselves better bc they come from the same place" i think they do not come from the same earth? Maybe it was the novel mtl but in a future arch Flame gets trapped in an illusion where she is in her world and there's a (SPOILERS FOR Lout of the Count's Family) krs's earth situation going on?? The whole monsters vs. Humans thingy.
Aiselle: My tragic heroine, she is so strong and fair,i would have loved to read the OG!Novel bc of her. But she is not the protagonist here. Tbh sometimes i feel the author could have give her much more presence, she is nice and caring, she cares so much about Yuseol, she has a whole arc about how Yuseol is such an important person in her life (emotionally and plotwise) however in comparison with Flame and babygirl Biyeon she does not feel that present? At least to me.
Koko Serin: Auntie what r u doing here (the whole "my irresistible curse does not affect him doki doki" bores me)(And don't get me wrong the big of age gaps are fine if the authors write it well like Frieren, but girl stand up, she sometimes does not act her title nor her age)
Jeliall: SPOILERS AHEAD if u think my beautiful girls are annoying, let me tell u that u still haven't seen Jeliall, i swear to god everytime i pause reading the novel is not bc of the mtl but bc she appears (still stuck in the 300+ bc of her), she is TRASH, trash i tell u, even Yuseol sent her to her death in a way bc she is THAT annoying, can u believe she was plotting for Yuseol to be her slave?? That scheme of hers exploded in her face but still. And i know later she did an 180° on her attitude and "falls in love" with Yuseol, but girll u were worse than the demonic race go do charities around the world and help the sick and poor if u wanna change 4 the better fr.
(Honorary Mention) Ma Yuseong: Tbh i started reading this bc in a tiktok he seemed fruity enough, however we all know it's not gonna happen. He's great tho, I really like him, if the author had given him more attention and more screen i bet they would be a famous ship among action manwhas, not joongdok level but decent amount of fanart level at least. Another thing about Ma Yuseong is that SPOILERS AHEAD, unlike other manhwas where a female lead feels like a ticking bomb(in the way that they, 4 some reason turn or will turn evil and love is keeping her good/back), HE IS the ticking bomb sjjdjfjfkf like while thank god i don't have to worry about any of the girls going dark insane mood, I worry reading the novel if Ma Yuseong have not been seen in a while, frienship is holding him back but will that be as strong as love? Idk, i love u my volatile child.
And finally going back to my point.
Hong Biyeon: BEST GIRL, strongest and prettiest, good future(? King cares for her country and her subjects even after all the sacrifices and abuse she has been put through, she is responsible, smart, realistic and soo sooo loyal.
She has such a great dynamic with Yuseol, King and Knight, but the king will do anything to keep safe and even save her knight, and even if the kinght does not notice himself he is defending his king from all sides. They have great moments together, Yuseol help Biyeon grow as a person and Biyeon makes Yuseol get more personally involved with this world (Call me delusional, but did anyone else notice how much on top of his thoughts Yuseol puts Biyeon in?? Aiselle and Biyeon share the same type of fates but Yuseol invest more of his time and effort helping Biyeon). And even the fancy shalala~ shots are used on Biyeon more than anyone of the girls, like the Persona Gate was more of a Flame arc but who gets the sparkle and frame of how pretty she looks in her dress? BIYEON and that's a Yuseol pov mind uuu.
I love them so much, straight ship so good it reminds u of doomed yuri.
Anyways, that's it, thank u for coming to my Ted Talk
Although I have to admit I was with the sentiment of finding the female leads a bit annoying, reading the novel I got to see more of their personalities and monologues that don't involve Baek Yuseol (MC) 24/7.
For example in the novel (chapter 32-33 manhwa i guess) the scene with Flame and Wonryeong(? Blue haired guy from the magic tower) instead of only talking about baek yuseol, it was more friendly and kinda relevant for the plot bc the scene even gives clues about the inferiority complex and rivalry Wonryeong has with Ma Yuseong(Original MC, Black haired with red eyes), thing that it's relevant later. It kinda went like this:
Flame seeing Wonyeong practicing in the practice room: Omg why are u here alone, where is your boyfriend(Ma yuseong)? (She literally said this)
Hae Wonryeong: Haha u r so funny ^^ (sarcasm)
Flame is just a silly girl, not her fault that in the manhwa it only shows the side of her that only has Baek Yuseol in her mind.
Also, I hope they don't scratch the scene where Flame while trying to prevent a plot-point where Jeremy gets obsessed with Aiselle and basically ruins her life she just goes like:
Jeremy trying to convince Aiselle to join his club (and be his girlfriend?? I don't remember) with the goal of monopolize her: So-
Flame who was watching from affar, running to their direction bc she decided to change Aiselle fate even tho she is scared shitless of Jeremy: GET! AWAY! FROM! MY! GIRLFRIEND!
Aiselle: ??? :0
Jeremy: ????
Flame concealing her fear by a fake it until u make it mantra, holding Aiselle's hand: Let's go babygirl love of my life, let's get away from this weirdo
Aiselle who in a moment of despair was about to accept Jeremy's offer, but thanks to Flame regains her senses: Alright???
Jeremy who knows it was a lie: A woman never treated me like this before... is this... love?

So, if I don't remember it wrong,
The Ivory Tower announce the appearance of Ian, as the 12th Arch Mage.
Then Ian goes to this hextech shop(? to buy a high-quality communication orb for his mother, because he recognises her as his only weakness and is afraid that the mages of the Ivory tower may hurt her when he is away.
And before that he left, he gave instructions to Ledio (the alchemist father) to, in the mansion, greet merchants/nobles and recieve their presents for Ian (the presents are because of the fact that Ian is the youngest 4th-class and the twelft Archmage in the Ivory Tower).
So MC goes to the city and enters the hextech shop, as soon at he enters a busy young worker(Vans was his name I think) tells him something like "Move your ass". Then the shop's manager asks him what is he looking for, Ian tells him, the manger shows him the communication orbs, Ian asks for the ones with better quality "I’m looking for the orb that’s used for communication posts." everyone in the shop went silent 'cause that type of orbs costs a fortune. The shop's workers laugh at loud, thinking that Ian was just a crazy rich costumer, because those orbs are extremely expensive.
Ian shows that, not joking, he can really buy it as he shows off the high-quality jewels he brought and the manager panicks and calls the Workshop's chief. The chief confirms that the jewels are real and it goes like
Chief: "first, those orbs can’t be sold without permission from the Ivory Tower, and second theres only a few people that can afford to buy it, so identify yourself, you seem to be someone's messenger, if your master isn't trustworthy, I would regard these jewels as stolen treasures."
Ian: Then first, I give u permission to sell it.
Chief: Wdym?
Ian: -shows high-level magic-
Chief: -remembers the news of the announcement of Ian Page, the 12th arch mage of the Ivory Tower and the youngest one- Are u...?
Ian: yes, nice to meet u, i'm Ian Page
Chief: omg, please forgive me. my name is Trahm(?, it's an honor to meet u!
Ian: Sure, and about the orbs...
Chief: yes, follow me
they leave to the basement, while the workers r panicking because of their past rudeness towards Ian, the manager is recalling every action he did while talking with the MC and Vans is wondering if he is gonna be executed (but don't worry we will see that little dude in the future).
Bla bla bla, Ian bought the orbs and goes back home, wondering in the way how to convince his mother to be always with the orb and, also, expecting the pie his mother promised to make for him.
He cames back his mansion, sees some knights of the crown prince outside, he asks someone if the crown prince (CP) is in the house, and yes the CP has been there for a while, making Ian grow uncomfortable. Ian knows that the CP has been treating him well, but he regard the CP as an imcompetent man, that might act violently. Ian wonders if he (CP) would harm his mother, and he says himself that if he do that, Ian wouldn't mind become a traitor.
Meanwhile Oliver (the CP's knight, the black haired hot dude) guarding in an aisle of the mansion, sees someone approaching, it's Ian, Oliver feels a really dangerous aura from the boy, he blocks Ian's way, Ian grows more anxious and mad, Oliver sensed it and was about to draw his sword when they get interrupted by another knigth, who is asking something about ingredients, Ian is like "ingredients? whaaat?" and the knight explain to him that the CP called royal chefs and requested more ingredients. And while Ian is like "oh, it was a misunderstanding, i could have killed the CP for nothing", Oliver was like "This little boy was about to beat my ass, i have to get stronger, to protect the CP"
And the two of them went to the dinner hall, where the CP and Vanessa (MC's mom) were having a nice chat (Ian felt more guilty thinking abut that he was trying to kill the CP a few minutes ago).
The CP sees Ian and goes to talk with him, and gives him a present, which is a really special elixir that only royalty can use, and normally only the emperor, it increases ones life-span(not really sure, but it said it was "The key of the previous emperors’ long life"), in Ian case it increased his mana regeneration. And Ian thanks the CP.
The CP leaves, and Ian think abut his thought about the prince being an useless idiot, but he may be not so useless after all (And yes, the CP is an useless idiot, but he is a good boy, i really like him, Ian will like him too in the future, he will consider him part of his people and a friend)
Bla bla bla, the CP's visits at Ian's mansion continues, bla bla bla.
It's the time of his "lesson" with Helen.
And as you know, our MC beat her ass.
Ian defeats Helen and hurts her pride, she locks herself in her room and starts drinking alcohol, the tower-master himself goes to talk with her (because she doesn't get out and doesn't eat) but she's too frustrated, angry and drunk to talk. Bla bla bla, like in the manhwa, the tower-master and Ragnar talk a little, bla bla bla.
We see Vans again, talking about how to reduce the communication orb size, they end the bussiness and Vans, still scared for his life and pleads for forgiveness and Ian says it's okay, then Douglas (the hot future genious alchemist, Ledio's son) appears, saying something like "boss, if he is gong to be your new subordinate, he is under my rank", and then Ian tells us that "Today was Douglas first day of school. To The Royal Alchemy Academy." And Ledio take Douglas to school.
Ian being alone now, thinks that he maybe needs a friend to talk to, his mother is just his mother, Ledio more like a business parter, and Douglas is too young, and then he thinks "what about the crown prince?" "..." "what the fudge i am thinking?"
And speaking of the devil, a royal invitation from the CP arrives just in time. It invited Ian AND Vanessa to the "Fashionable Society" (the same invitation of the manhwa's 22 chapter)
And i might continue this later, too much for today.
My first language isn't english and I normally suck at summarizing things, but I hope that u could understand.

I know he's been relatively great until now, and he truly is husband material by the end of the novel (It caught me off guard but they actually ended up together, if not basically married, and changed the genre from action to romance), but he is such a bastard until almost chapter 500.
Like u have your hopes up for him to be Kim Giryeo's knight in shining (covered in blood tho) armor for the first 100 chapters but by the end of this arc he is kind of trashy, he acts horribly and bipolar from the 100-300 chapters and somewhere there is the blue-yellow arc which is another hell in itself. If u think this is the start of the divorce arc, u r wrong, this is the start of the "situationship break-up" arc, followed by the "the toxic couple u know breaking up and coming back together again and again" arcs, and followed finally by the "atomic bomb divorce" arc.
I stopped reading the novel four times because of everything he did and how much he hurted Giryeo, and even if our alien told himself and the audience he didn't feel betrayed or hurt because of everything Kang Changho did, he totally was (at least the first times). Kim Giryeo is THE unreliable narrator.
I love him now tho, don't get confused. Even when i hated him (which was like until chapter 500 and only because Kim Giryeo was like: omg he could be my friend too like Seonwoon OwO and i accepted him as if he was my hateful son-in-law) he was always a greatly written character, and affecionally nicknamed "the wildcard" bc he totally is, even after 515.
But that is, don't expect much from him, he is awesome and by the end of the novel u can't say he is not irrevocably in love with our dear alien, but timeline-wise he is still only a prick.
Dam(゜o゜;
oh my god I didn’t know the novel would be so long but I guess that means I’m in it for the long haul. Thank you for your write up
damn, he's messy fr
Woah..
Is he really redeemable? For now all i see is him being annoying and a mean jerk to mc. He only wanna use mc
I'm in ch. 536, and he is! Surprisingly
