Oh dear oh no
Kaya got twisted worse. Girl help. Someone help this boy :0 I'm now more worried the direction his life is going
Y'all stop getting mad at Ran though; she is in no way equipped to handle this situation and is basically trying to survive. If anything, I admire that she wants Kaya to be able to have a proper family and be a normal kid. But currently, he's more like a monster than a person..
Also have you guys heard of a freeze response to scary situations? I think that's part of why Ran doesn't fight back (I myself have experienced where a family member grabbed me in anger once and all I could do was lose the strength in my legs and go silent because I had never been in physical altercation like that. I was really useless and couldn't even cry until like a day or two later when I processed it. So I guess props to Ran for not having a full on panic attack lol)
This kid Kaya is physically intimidating, mentally unpredictable, and she's probably trying not to let their parents get involved because she doesn't want them to negatively view Kaya. The flashbacks of how she was treated in various social situations makes sense why she has a hard time to stand up for herself, but she seems to have difficulty asking others to get involved either.
But anyway side note I like that the mangaka actively has other characters refute Ran's self blame before she can really spiral. She has more support than she used to, but she herself needs to become stronger.
I lowkey feel like this is not meant to be a love triangle.. not really. One character's obsessiveness doesn't equate a romantic challenge.
Nasu and Ran seem to really like each other, where the last conflict in ch 32 leads Ran to actually get angry and actively refute Kaya's way of thinking.
AND I'll say that Nasu seems to be supporting Ran's intention toward Kaya, as in also wanting Kaya to be taken care of in a familial way, instead of only ending Nasu's intentions at "winning the girl". He kept suggesting ways to resolve or make sure that Kaya is okay and didn't seem to get angry (well not outright, since he didn't want to scare his sisters) when Kaya blew up on him in this last chapter.
I really feel like Nasu is mainly a catalyst to help Ran grow more confident, since he doesn't actively force her to change anything about herself but rather embraces her so much that she can become more of herself. But I can't see Ran having a disinterest in him while she becomes confident, since even part of that confidence led her to defend him against Kaya. And I can see a potential that Nasu (as an already loving big brother to his sisters) would be an excellent brother to Kaya too.
So Kaya is the main character, but like, as a feral cat that everyone is trying to rehabilitate
NASU YOU MAN!!! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I swear I'mma lose my mind if this was all a game toying with my emotions for nothing though. This last chapter made me crazy. I thought we were going to get a "love confession drowned out by fireworks and continued miscommunication" but AH I LOVE HOW THIS MANGA DOES THE TROPES DIFFERENTLY.
I'll even forgive if she's still scared and it takes longer for them to for real be together, as long as Kaya isn't end game. I'm hoping Ran-chan will learn to stand up for herself and be able to overcome her social anxiety and that Kaya can learn what "family" really is.
Fr fr there's already a teaser for it; it's supposed to happen during this year apparently and I can't believe nobody told me. Also y'all would love the short animated trailer they made for No Home manhua if you haven't seen it yet.
This manhua hits me in the soft squishy parts of my heart and I've been reading it for years it's really one of my favorites. I appreciate the dedicated translator who has been consistently uploading this story, it's such an underrated gem

sometimes you gotta lay out flat on the ground when one of the most emotionally life changing manhuas you've ever read ends
