She said sighing and I just knew he got dumped. I'm thinking either:
1. Haz wasn't serious about dating him and after meeting someone who was passionate about their feelings thought it was better to end things and give him the opportunity to find someone who could properly love him. Likely the reaction to "steal him from me" was her push to do so.
2. She figured he'd eventually fall for someone else closer to his age/demographic and preemptively ended things to avoid the pain of being right.

I'm curious to see what the answer will end up being! I'm not willing to say Haz is a horrible person but I do think she seems to take actions that hurt other people while pretending not to care. Kind of hope we see more of her!

The author doesn't justify how Heiner treats Annette, but a heavy focus of Annette's story is how she was willfully naive about how she benefitted from the torment and destruction of the people around her. There were hints in her life that things were bad, but because of her privilege and comfort she choose not to think too deeply and just accept what she was told by her father.

Just because she didn't inflict pain on people doesn't mean she is incapable of being criticized for her past and she accepts that as a fact. It's one of the strongest moments in the comic when she sits down in front of the woman whose brother got executed and acknowledges this fact.

All of her family's wealth came at a grave cost. The rebellion happened because of the mistreatment of the common folk. Her being naive of this doesn't mean she is innocent of any injustice because she still was fine with getting things and keeping her peace.

We can accept that what she has gone through is horrible and cruel, unjustified. But the criticism both the author has of her naivety and her own acceptance of her faults needs to be acknowledged by us. Its not a black and white conversation and it's aggrevating to see people boil it down to one.

I agree!! Annette isn’t the saint or angel ppl are making her out to be, and Heiner isn’t evil. They’re both complicated characters carved from their environment. Annette grew up comfortable so she had the luxury of ignorance until it took everything from her.

Exactly. I really enjoy how complex the author writes the characters. Allowing everyone to be flawed in someway. It makes them feel more human.

Heiner is one of the best examples of an imperfect victim I've seen someone write and his side of the story as someone raised in much more impoverished circumstances forced to claw his way through the same system Annette benefitted from is so important to explain both how he ended up how he is as well as give us sympathetic central view of the non wealthy. We can criticize what he did to Annette while acknowledging how crucial his history is to figuring out how things are the way they are.

So I'm glad we're seeing more to show that the family is majority at fault for the state of the relationship between the husband and wife. At the same time there should be conversation between the two to air their feelings and thoughts without the other interrupting to state how they should/do feel. Also Winter, buddy, if you love you're wife and see her clearly distraught and clinging to you when she rarely does maybe listen to her to show your feelings.

That being said I'm still enjoying this mess and will continue reading it because sometimes I vibe with chaos..

It is kind of funny to me that people are so mad at her for not realizing things when:
1. The Duke only ever shows apathy or anger around her or even outright say he loves her from what we've seen.
2. He never seems to actually attempt to let her know why he isn't around
3. No one else around her ever bothers to tell her how much the Duke loves her.
This story is everyone misunderstanding and dense towards the feelings of others and it makes it fun but its not one person's fault on their own.

So since lilith was abused by her mom, it seems to make sense why she'd cling to Payne as the male love interest for her. Both come from abusive families that expect way too much from them. Both of them are compared to someone else, and you can tell that both of them find some sort of comfort in the other.
Part of me Hope's that lilith will be able to just be happy with Payne because it really does seem like she has no interest in pursuing any of the male leads other than him.

The pacing in this story is pretty fast and part of me wants to think it's got something to do with the characters knowing each other less than a week but with the count returning from the battlefield victorious it makes it harder to figure out just how long they've been meeting.
If the count was gone longer then I'd say maybe 3 or 4 days max is the amount of time they've interacted with each other but honestly I'm not even sure. I want to like the story, the art is good and I can get behind the character interactions, especially the siblings, but the pacing makes it hard to fully enjoy.

So I feel like everyone is getting too angry at the FL. She stated when they first met that she was looking for something physical. She never acted like she wanted a date and didn't stick around in the morning. Neither of them talked about forming a serious relationship and it's clear that she isnt interested in forming one with him but he keeps trying to force one on her.
She barely knows this guy and he wants to get married to her and keeps flaunting his wealth. It would be really uncomfortable to be in that situation for anyone and her actions make sense to me.
Everyones mad that she's not trying, but shes made it clear that she doesnt want to and is only going along with it because he kept finding her and bothering her. As of right now I feel like the ML is the one who needs to take a step back and calm down.

Agree to disagree. I understand the one night stand and how it only started out physically but when a child is involved I feel like a conversation needs to be had. And not just one about jumping straight towards marriage. I agree that he is forceful with the marriage thing. Maybe because it's a different culture, because co-parenting is also an option. But she is a teacher in an asian culture where marriage comes before children.

This is one of those stories where I really want both characters to get with the female lead and for once it actually seems like a possibility. The author is focusing on all 3 them and their feelings pretty equally and it's clear that Sasha cares deeply for both Arth and Rebecca. It's also clear that both Rebecca and Arth are understanding of how happy Sasha is when she's with them.
I dont want any of them to suffer. Here's hoping for an OT3.

    YourLocalNeighborhoodTrash July 16, 2020 11:55 pm

I think arth and sasha will get married and she will still hang out with Rebecca, you can have a husband and a best friend all the same, I don't think rebecca will end with anybody I personally feels like she doesnt need to and she probably doesn't want to, as long as she has sasha she should be fine, thats my guess and look on it anyway

I dont really leave comments but I was sort of hoping the romance would've been between her and the knight. I dont really feel any chemistry from her and the king and feel like most of the writing actually forces their feelings. I'll keep reading to see if maybe the development becomes more smooth but as of right now it feels like both of them became infatuated out of nowhere.

I actually did think this would be a slow burn and they would be friendly first as well.

    Yazmine January 21, 2020 6:56 pm

I disagree, but I see what you mean.
