one of my first bls i've read, re-read and finished now. seokyon's sad backstory makes his character layered, making me root for him. yeowon however, has character but not much depth, and isn't elaborated in his pov with his behavior to people, but only how he shows his love to others, like his ex. the past memories like their college days, should've been expanded more for character development, especially yeowon, with his sexuality, etc.
i'm also curious as to why seokyon's question of "if yeowon really spread the rumors" was never brought up again later on, which is his objective in the earlier episodes. i get that it is resolved with being convinced that yeowon seems innocent because of "how he is". but i hoped it was asked and answered directly nonetheless.
with the romance, i find it cute with them ending up together, however i wish it was done differently. it's all captured in this back-and-forth misunderstandings and tug-of-war type of dynamic that both entices me and frustrates me as a reader. regardless, a solid read, loved the slow burn, the wits of the characters, and the overall concept.
so i only found out about this manga now, and i am so fully invested in the story. BUT IT ONLY ENDS THERE? WHAT. i need more of them. this manga, by far, is so complex as not even a bl, but a queer-leaning one. it tackles the gay romance experience, self-acceptance and facing discrimination, acknowledging past love and present circumstances, and so much more that i can say. it's so well thought out and layered that i want more !!
by far one of my favorite mangas. out there. and to be honest, i see this as more of a coming-of-age manga than a bl. i love both yuiji and yamato and their unique perspective of things as a guy. especially yamato's, as a gay guy navigating through his unrequited feelings, self-love, and confronting prejudice and the past. yuiji, what i can describe of him is that he's so cool with his open-mindedness, approach to things, and awareness. if anything, i'd fall for him too eventually. i love slow burn, bu this one sure is taking it's sweet time, though i don't mind, as long as the relationship is gradual and natural (which is about to happen but oh well...)
i wish this gets continued. it is truly one of the good ones out there. highly recommend.
dare i say one of the best bls to read out there. the way it depicts same sex relations is so realistic, realistic in both beautiful artstyle and the queer experience. if i were them i'd do the same tbh. life is hard, but being together with the one you love makes it all better. nearly cried at the bridge scene, because it felt too real. i've seen so much gay tragedies before, and this one reassured me that maybe, death or other, might not always be the fate that mlms, like me, should suffer. instantly one of my favorites ever.
even though i dove into reading this expecting a romance in the end, i honestly still enjoyed it especially for its core message. i love their platonic dynamics so much, and they complement each other as fans of one another, but also focusing on body positivity as well as building self-confidence which is so refreshing (and also cute!) to see in stories like this. whether direct or not that they fell for each other, in my mind they are technically dating already lol.
chapter 1 got me hooked because of thats basically the synopsis of the story, and i was in for some angst. then the ending of chapter 2 came and i was like '???'. i'm sorry but the confession is not only random as hell, but the age gap too, knowing that the other ISN'T even an adult yet. dunno... now i feel weird reading this further onwards.
so i did read this once. i was a little reluctant re-reading it, but i remember it being VERY angsty, so yeah! anyway, this was both a lovely and heartbreaking story, especially with the two main characters, dealing with their own personal and family upbringings but also their complicated feelings toward each other. i really love their character development that made their relationship grow. the ending might not be as grand, but the ending line is enough to shed a tear out of me.
i also remembered reading this one two years ago, and it's still as impactful as it was before. i love the progression of the two main characters with not only dealing with their upbringing but also their relationship with one another. filled with romantic and realistic themes, it makes you sympathize with both of them as well as rooting for their love for each other! really one of the good drama bls out there.
i remember tearing up to this one when i first read it during vacation last year. i already have realized my sexuality, but it made me reflect about it furthermore, including my feelings, and as a person who kindly wants to love and be loved. resonating so much with the characters and their complex personalities, it makes me appreciate the overall sentiment, maturity with the themes, and awareness of current-day reality of this manga, and REALLY is one of the beyond good reads out there.
okay... though i enjoyed my time reading laughing with the comic, i can't help but feel empty and unsatisfied with the ending?
my critiques are that: jaewon as the MC is so shallow. as well as jaehee, which is his crush and will be endgame, whic is i'm glad they ended up together, it's cute... but i also don't get the point of yoonsung as a character, he's just there for drama and jealousy. junseo HOWEVER, is *not only* the most, but THE ONLY interesting character in this series, especially with his feelings and backstory. he deserves better.
i feel like this comic tries to do every trope at once - but its execution fails, and as it progressed it doesn't know what it wants to turn out to be. so i guess that's why they settled for the safest ending with jaehee instead... would've been better if it was junseo instead tbh... but that's just how i feel

oh how much i envy johnny having to ride that cowboy dihh ... reading this with ethel cain music felt so right lmfao. surprisingly a really great story, as well as the art with its scenes as well
like who would not get turned on? #needthat
