Midway Review: I am in love with this story, how it shifts between present day and past when they are at the lodge, the author lines up moments perfectly, and you 90% of the time you don't expect what's going to come next, which I find is becoming exceedingly rare in literature as a whole. I will say, that I wish Ha-kyung would just tell Yoonsung that he is a man, and that he loves him, and he name and age. But, I also understand why he feels he is stuck in a situation where he is at a literal crossroads, he cannot choose between getting the money he desperately needs for his family, but he also wants to desperately cling to Yoonsung, the man he is growing to love, and care for, but he also feels the strain of keeping his identity a secret the whole time.
It is truly a hard place to be.



Final Review: I WISH WE HAD SIDE STORIES. But I also think that the story had a good ending with all the possible issues resolved and some semblance of a peaceful time for them to both be entered into.
I do whoever have one issue. I cannot but also can grasp why Yoonsung so easily forgave Ha-kyung.
He justs wants to be with the one he loves, and not let his beloved summer go yet again, not let the love of his life disappear again.
Which I cannot blame him. Thinking that the love of your life is dead, and throwing yourself off the literal cliff into the lake, not wanting to live another minute without his beloved summer, it had a huge impact on me. Regaining your memories, and finding out that you have once again found your beloved. I would 100% do the same thing, I would hold on tight and NEVER let go, no matter what barriers stood in my way.

But on the other hand, I find it hard to forgive the type of betrayal Ha-kyung did.
Originally he hid the fact that he was a man, and he had a lot of conditions that had to be met, in order to secure the money at the end of his contract, again his crossroads. After the accident he was given the impossible choice of choosing to go to Yoonsung, or getting his money he earned and never seeing him again. It is an impossible choice, I don't think I would have the strength to make that choice myself. When he called him after his mothers funeral, I would have gone physically in person to see Yoonsung, but then again, would ANYONE have that strength?

When they met again, the guilt he must have felt, and the well of emotions that he had been carrying all those years all by himself, he must've been incredibly scared, I think most of us would be, when placed in either of these sweet boys shoes.

I truly love this story, and the ending for me was bittersweet, because Yoonsung will always live with the fact that he experienced Ha-kyungs death once(fake death of course), as traumatizing as that would be, maybe it would have been better for him to never regain his memories, would his life have been better? Would he find someone else to truly love? Or would he feel hollow inside, with this huge missing piece forever?
I think him regaining his memories was soo crucial for him, even though there are a lot of bittersweet moments he would have to remember, he was also given the chance to find his love once again, getting to live his life with his one love.

Sorry for my long post, but this story was hugely impactful for me! Let me know how you felt finishing it.

I love that Kaya Azuma connected Rumspringa no joukei and dear gene <3 literal tears

as most of the comments here have shown, the boi to win will be none other the Juwon, and a lot of people are rooting for Seunghyeon(me too kind of) saying that Juwon is a red flag and Seunghyeon is a green flag. I agree partially.
Reason: Juwon, during the confession 13 years ago, was said to be disgusted, but all we really see is the MC's point of view, and we don't even see Juwon really say anything at all except have his face in his hands during the time of the confession whereas Seunghyeon has been very forward and honest with how he feels. We have not truly seen what Juwon felt at that time or what his true reaction is as the MC just moved after that happened which I can totally understand if that is how he thought Juwon reacted, but at the same token I myself cannot call him a red flag just yet.
He does tease the MC a lot and coerced MC into doing things with him multiple times.
So I guess we'll see how this story develops.

Jaekyung is for sure in his suffering era.
To fans saying Jaekyung should kill himself, that is not a plausible answer for what he has done. Yes, he has hurt MANY MANY MANY people, including SWEET, SWEET, Kim Dan(who did not deserve AN OUNCE of the treatment he received). Jaekyung committing suicide is not something that does anyone any favors.
Jaekyung will be forced to learn from his mistakes, and have to pay the consequences for his actions, yes. Do I think he deserves Kim Dan? No, but author-nims current path is, of course, getting them together by the end. Jaekyung is gonna have to do A LOT of work to FIRST heal his own traumas(which are clearly there, since he is experiencing triggers from Junmin), but also try to make things right with all of the people he has wronged in his past and present, 100% including Kim Dan(sweetest angel).
As it can be seen, during his time of recovery he is being forced to confront his demons, which he is trying to evade by working out, insomnia(and headaches) not sleeping, and drinking himself into a stupor. He could be dealing with complex PTSD, which can be reflected in his insomnia and headaches(restlessness). Thus using Alcohol(and the "drugs" as well), works out, and watches films to distract himself(all subconsciously of course). Until he really sits down with himself and is able to confront his demons properly, he is unlikely to move forward. His "champion/ perfect" image has now been put into question, depending on his past, which has put him in a difficult position because this could make him look weak. This could also take into account that his possible trauma was either sexually related or bullying since his jinx is tied to that, which we are at the current time unaware of why he has his current jinx. He could be viewing his sexual partners as his past weaker self, and has he "dominates" them, that could "give" him the reassurance subconsciously that he is not his past weaker self, which in turn helps him in the ring, giving him the confidence needed.
The sum of his healing journey will probably conclude that he possibly no longer needs his jinx, since he will have worked through his traumas connected to his sense of weakness.

Anything I've stated above does not negate his behaviors, just putting that out there.
My apologies to those who do not agree, but Jaekyung committing suicide is just not something I agree with, but everyone is welcome to their own opinion. Just suicide is a serious matter, that should not be taken lightly.

For those who are concerned about the phantom being deformed, in the original screenplay he is deformed from a birth defect, the movie is truly beautiful and is worth the watch if you have the time! Plus it'll give you an insight on the story coming ahead!!
