aya has yet again jumped to the conclusion of mitsuki cheating based off literally nothing. we know aya is a bit insecure but damn it gets to a point. obvs something happened during the timeskip to have her so doubtful.
either she misinterpreted something that went down with mitsuki or it was something she went through herself and this is all guilt driving her. im leaning towards the latter especially bc of the way her friend acted when she touched her arm.
let me be clear, i dont think either are cheaters (i certainly hope the story doesnt take that turn, bc while i hate both, ill take the miscommunication trope over cheating a thousand times over) i think something went down that could be mistaken as infidelity. either way, it seems we’ll finally get more depth of aya soon.

while riftan’s anger is valid, there is truth to maxi’s reasonings. everyone is risking their lives not just her. status shouldn’t and doesn’t matter. if she can help, why stop her? im proud of her for standing on that.
seeing her grow is so satisfying. shes badass and shes proving it.
i hope riftan will soon grow more and allow her to flourish the way shes trying to. his worry is understandable but he will end up caging her if he doesnt start trying to see things the way she’s presenting them. overprotective behavior can quickly turn into over-controlling.

I think some of the reason why he stil can't help but keep her caged is because she hasn't opened up about how her life with her family actually was like. He has so many assumptions about how she is and should behave as a nobleman's daughter that he can't she her for how she really is.
I too hope he will soon realize this, I had hoped he would without her telling him the truth, but by now I think that that's probably what will be the real trigger.
I haven't read the novel, so I don't know, I'm just guessing.

you’re right, it’s fiction! so imagine how tiring it is for use BIPoC, mainly black and brown folks having to deal with this so often. why is it that even in fantasy we cant escape these annoying stereotypes.

judith’s decision are so dumb, its making me way too anxious with ever update.
i’ve been trying to make sense of them by assuming shes just doing it so to not bring harm to others. which makes sense, but does she not yet understand that there is power in numbers. since when is have a bad feeling of something the go ahead to face it alone? especially when you have capable people to back you!
and when she just kept allowing flavia to be a constant threat, it was so maddening. i get that she was forced to marry to an abusive asshole, so she clearly was having a hard time. however, that doesn’t get to be an excuse for her atrocious behavior. she literally orchestrates a couple of rape attempts. that is not someone you keep giving chances to, she needed and should’ve been handled after the first. she deserves exactly what her parents got.
overall im glad the plot is moving along, and it does interest me a bit.
binged this in a few hours, a real fun time. it was a bit confusing towards the end but ill sleep on it, reread and sort it all out later.
