Everrrly's topics ( All 30 )

Nothing better like an opening to catching your ‘light’ suck someone off in the office building, right?

The story was actually touching, something I wouldn’t usually expect from shorter Manhwas. Young suffering from survivor guilt and suicide ideation was portrayed so realistically. Unlike most plots, it’s not merely glossed over. It persists and eats you alive constantly. A sensitive topic that no other Manhwas I’ve read has really portrayed or developed well enough to actually have it merge so seamlessly with a character’s suffering.

I also really enjoyed the parallel in how Yoobin and Young saved each other, and hearing Yoobin regret falling actually hit closer to home for me. It’s an excruciating to feel like you’re nothing but a burden to your family to the point where ending everything is the only right decision you can make. The same can be sad for young after losing so much due to him being complacent, the remorse for not spending more time or having done something differently must’ve tore at him constantly.

I’m just really happy they both have each-other.

A few things I didn’t really enjoy was:

1.) The Chairman not referring to Hana’s mother as family and Hana’s mother ONLY referring to the Chairman as a lingering memory of her late husband. There’s no familial love or bond I’m sensing there, at least, not from the lines I’m reading.

2.) Sangwook’s constant guilt trip, verbal harassments and victim mindset is really off putting to me. When I read the earlier chapters, I thought he was going to be a pal, in the end, he was but a manipulative and cunning arsehole. Young took the blame for him once, so he thinks Young can solve every bullshit he gets himself into. He refers to that as a ‘brotherly’ bond, which isn’t the case entirely. Juha’s ( forgive me if I got his name wrong)’s and Enseo’s death were never explicably elaborated upon but I wouldn’t put it past Sanwook to have them murdered. The guy has some sort of dependency on Young and he’s even admitted that he would use anything as a leverage to hold him at his side. I do admit he probably did care for Young, but got lost somewhere in resentment and purpose, still not ANY excuse to act the way he did.

3.) The constant responsibility Young had to bear—from the policeman saying (A) “you’re partially responsible for why Sanwook turned out the way he did” and (B) “we’re relying on your guilt”. Let’s talk about (A), Young is in no way responsible for what an adult chooses to do with his life. He should have never touched drugs or at least tried to come clean himself. Young shouldn’t have been blamed or held liable for what Sanwook chose to do with his life or his affiliations.. and the fact that the policeman said this to him was appalling. Now, for (B)—-How are you going to leverage someone’s conscience into helping you exercise your obligations? You ‘care’ for Sangwook’s critical position against the Cartel but have you no sympathy against this poor man who’s lost his ‘brother’? How can you even look him in the eye and demand that of him. It disgusts me that the policeman had such little regard for a person’s emotion. The chairman isn’t any better either, the 2 billion won was bare minimum for what he had underwent and still, he had to suffer another emotional binding because of the chairman’s own regret? It really felt like Yoobin was the only one trying not to add to his shackles.

4.) Lastly, I didn’t like how Choi Young, Eunseo and Juha’s death were glossed over. They could’ve developed it a bit more but it felt like it was just there not even as plot but just plot filling. Enseo and Juha seemed like sunshines too, it’s a shame they had to die so young.

Nonetheless, these are my takes and I would still recommend this to anyone looking for a healing read.

8/10!

Plot wise, this whole Manhwa is just a mixture of all kinds of fetishes/kinks and honestly, I don’t think anyone should waste their precious time reading these 99% of rape trope.

I regret reading even chapter 1, wish this could be wiped from the BL community because HOLY TRASH.

Evidently, dropping a review to warn others about what they’re getting into.

For your information, I did in fact stop reading the series. It popped up on the updates and one look at the most recent picture is enough to ward me off.

God forbid someone leave ONE review. God forbid someone HAS an opinion that’s different to yours.
