no it was originally a short story since first publication….

tbf, creators with no solid following or portfolio are typically given shorter chapter limit by their contractors/publishers, and it just gets expanded based on the work's market performance (and the creator's agreement), unless this work was independently published then the creator can publish as many chapters as they want. But with the scandal that it went through, it's very unlikely that they will add more to this work, they might just create a new one instead which is kinda sad

neumbae is under kidari studio. similar to deepest confession, dont throw stones at the stone bridge, 애기하고 삽시다 and so many others have the ‘short story collection’ on bomtoon which is usually 5-10 chapters main story alone

yeah short stories are debut for rookie creators, even all your mentioned titles were also from creators with limited portfolio; notice only the one with good rating and no scandal was even given the ability to add side stories? it wasn't much but they were still contracted to continue. The market for authors is very tight, they're literally just given 15min of fame/support and if they don't prove it or become problematic, the studio just moves on to feature other artists and leave you fending for yourself. The author of "What's With Your Taste?" which was a bit mid came back to publish that other manhwa that you mentioned years later and they killed it this time - that one also has side stories coz the author's clean and the performance is good. I hope this author bounces back too and those fantards finally leave them alone, it would be a shame not to use such talent more

theirs a few short stories that the authors/illustrators didn’t have any allegations etc during publication that didnt continue with side stories. neumbae said in the creator note that their reason for a short story was because theyve only done digital drawings roughly a year since getting the contract to have a story be published. neumbae also said they might come back sooner than expected due to all the positive feedback not just from korean readers but intl as well although they dont know when that’ll be but i think they’re gonna continue improving drawing digitally and take a break since the hate did affect them slightly

coz like I said it has to have good performance + good reputation. Those others that didn't continue but was clean most likely did not have good enough market performance (or the author is simply over it and want to start anew), so they weren't even marketable anymore to continue. Even famed artists can have their works ceased if their works are affected by either one of those 2 factors, what more if it's a newbie? Well at least it doesn't seem like the the author is stopping for good, also the scandal was really more on those delulus and author was able to defend their side with proofs too, their work also performed well, time really is a good choice not just career-wise but also mental health-wise

also forgot to add- this only applies to original works- adaptations tend to go longer even for newbies coz there's already an existing fanbase/market for the story in the first place, also if the author won some awards before, they can also be granted full serialization for their first official publication out of merit. The standard for newbie creators are short stories, but ofc it's not a rigid rule either, it's simply testing grounds
