I lived with a female roommate who never picks her hair out of the shower, I promise this is important, and I had to pick it out every time I went to shower (we share one bathroom, config sucked). I worked at a math center for kids from a rich town/city when I was in high school, and tutored more rich kids from the suburbs during the weekend. I did get a recommendation from one of my friends, and it helped that I was a calculus TA at my high school.
